A point of clarity: Alaric invited the Jade Falcons to join the battle for Terra and even gave them the information he had been given on how to penetrate Fortress Republic. He purposefully did this at the last moment so they would arrive late, and he knew that Hazen would strike directly at strategic targets as Clan doctrine dictated. He also specifically bypassed Mars to give the Falcons something to spend their energy on. His objective was to have the Falcons force the RAF to split their attention, and he wagered that more would be given to the Falcons since the Mongol doctrine would have them razing entire cities and killing hundreds of thousands of civilians. He planned to finish the Republic off and immediately engage the Falcons for the real battle to determine the Ilclan.

Oh she was suspicious, but Terra is about as close to a religious place that the clans get and conquering it was the stated goal of the crusader clans. So no amount of infighting would keep a crusader clan like the Falcons from taking any chance to be the iLclan. @@foenrik8941

As a kid I loved the Clans. Omnimechs were so cool and the weapons were so powerful. As an adult the Clans are just sad and stupid. Hells Horses and Goluath Scorpion are way cooler than clan red puppy.

I agree, that Ghost Bears and the Dominion have done some great stuff in the IS and they are probably the clan who has adapted to living in the IS the best but they just do not get as much coverage as the shiny Wolves or Falcons do. But this is one of the challenges for game creators like FASA, Wizkids, and Catalyst. How do they make something that is fun but also sells product.

She have shake off the cloak of Star League oppression and demand that we be allowed to live our onw lives, as free citizens. :) But we will be more than happy to sell you all kinds of military equipment. Good video, thanks for taking the time to put this together and sharing it! The AI seems to be doing better yet. The only thing I still find jarring is the pronunciation of "touman" it comes out as "two man", but I've always heard it more like "tao man" - that's not to say what I've always heard is right or not, so I looked it up. The word apparently originates from Old Chinese and is actually pronounced more like "toe man". Edit: My favorite era is still 3025. It's more simple and straightforward to play in. Maybe someday I'll get used to all the new stuff, but lately it seems like a good portion of play sessions is looking up how the new stuff works. I enjoy playing through to the FC Civil War, but beyond that it just seems unnecessarily complicated.

Since many Inner Sphere players and Succession Wars fans dislike having to face what feels like the invasion of a foreign culture that, regardless of ancestral or technological connection to their Exodus-era SLDF ancestry, has nigh-"OP-PLZ-NERF" units meant to force Inner Sphere players to use C-Bills/Battle Value to deploy ground-and-air assets in order to even the odds... To many who got into the setting due to newer titles set in the immediate aftermath of the First Succession War (Pirahna Games' MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries) or the midst of the Second (HBS' Battletech), the combined-arms aspects of the setting are not as prevalent unless players use mods (YAML/MercTech for MW5Mercs and Advanced 3062/Roguetech for HBS-Tech).

I am going to be honest something never really sag well with me about the invasion of Terra. I could go on at lengths about it, and how clan wolf and falcons just seem to win and when they lose the Republic seems incapable of acting on it. I just feel a lot of it is very contrived, though I do understand the RAF also suffered from a mixture of nepotism and overt focus around frontline commanders getting killed, but the way it sounds they somehow took over most of Asia in a few days. Then again I should not argue given the WoB conquered terra in 2 months: though that was through deception. On a side note I wish I knew what happened to most of the Terran nobility. I just find it funny how the Kennedy and the so called Windsor-Cameron’s still exist in BT. Also you have a amazing voice BTW: excellent read

As for the state of the Sphere before the ilClan era, it was actually one of relative peace during the Republic Era (as far as the Inner Sphere goes that is). There were a few brush wars but nothing on the scale before or after. It was really the HPG Blackout that sent the universe spiraling back into war.

Not trying to talk bad about the video but there were some issues. Jade Falcons were invited to Terra by the Wolves being one but I was more surprised by what you left out of the video. Jiyi Chistu as Jade Falcon 2.0's Khan for onething, the Ghost Bear Civil War, formation of the Tamar Pact and Vesper marches, Reconquesta of New Avalon and such. Aga8n, love the videos just saying for a video called Ilclan Era there is so much missing is all.

​@@HPGBlackout I thought this would be more of an overview of the aftereffects of the the ascendancy of the Wolf Clan - because the Big Issue is not whether or not the other Clans will fall in line behind the Wolves (the wolve's plot armor pretty much guarantees it). The Big Issues is that if he's really going to reform the Star League (and not the "Clan League"), he's going to have to get the Great Houses to some sort of negotiating table. House Liao was already eyeing Terra - will they take advantage of how beat up the Wolves and Falcons are after their own battles and try a quick power grab? "We beat the IlClan! Doesn't that mean the clans will all back OUR claim to the first lordship?" Will Davion focus on rebuilding after liberating New Avalon and the rest of the Dragon's Tongue (and ignore the Wolves as much as they can). They hadn't even really finished rebuilding after what the Blakists did to the Federation during their Jihad, and their civil war before that. Or will the Davions seek to forge alliances with Tamar or the reforming FWL - or even the Kuritans to assert that NO CLANNER will ever dictate policy to the Free Peoples of the Inner Sphere (as much as they HATE one another, they have forged alliance with the Combine against the clans before). Davion backed the second star league - and that blew up in their faces. They were the primary ally of the Republic - and _that_ blew up in their faces, too. They aren't likely to back any effort to reunite humanity - unless they're the House in the driver's seat (and House Liao and Kurita are memories only referenced in history books). And there's NO WAY IN HELL they'll follow the clone/genegeneered spawn of Katie "she's as bad as Amaris" Steiner-Davion? Kurita is pretty beat up, after Davion pushed them out of their space and the Bears invasion to curry points with the new IlClan, but they're still House Kurita and they still KNOW to the core of their being that nobody except their Coordinator deserves to be First Lord. And will the Steiners continue to be the setting's favorite punching bag, or will they start to rebuild the Commonwealth (and the wealth of the commonwealth). The Mariks have finally puzzle-pieced the "Free" world's league back together again. I don't think they'll want Clanners telling them they all need to bail on natural families and adopt the Clan Caste system.

The wolves were lured into a reunion, as they only fight "for" and not "as" Clan Wolf was only mentioned after the battle for Terra 😉 maybe they are a bit salty about this "detail".

@@charlesballiet7074 This is explained in two novels, with one dedicated entirely to the negotiations between Clan Wolf and the Dragoons. Basically, Clan Wolf needed more forces in order to both defeat the RAF and the Jade Falcons afterwards. Since they could not just hire mercenaries without throwing the legitimacy of their claim to ilClan, they used the origins of the Wolf's Dragoons as pretext to include them back into the clan proper.

Because Hells Horses can only ever win vs Clan Wolf, so when they tried fighting Jade Falcon and Steiner's breakoffs, they got bogged down. The Ghost Bears just got screwed by Clan Wolf's plot armor. Even Dominions Divided covers why the Ghost Bears shouldnt give a fuck and attack the Wolves (Rasalhauge being an Ally of the Republic that was Just Slaughtered, since the Clan Invasion Rasalhauge hated Clan Wolf, Ghost Bear hates Clan Wolf, The Citizens of the Ghost Bear Dominion had been pushing for war vs the Wolves for decades, and that Clan Ghost Bear straight up by uts own Ideology, doesnt believe in the IllKlan). But of course its the Wolves in the "Clan Wolf" era , so of course they dont loose. Nikol should be shot, drawn and quartered, and shot again for the BS she pulled in the FWL, Ghost Bears now is attacking the Dracs for no real reason, after the Rats drove the Dracs out. Thus they are now facing the full might of the Dragon after they just killed 1/3rd of their Clan in a Civil War that shouldnt exist in the lore of the Universe. But Wolf must win and Modern Politics has to be referenced for some fucking reason. Clan Wolf is the Author's pet and always have been. Even in the late 80s early 90s with Weisman loving his FedSuns, they still lost, had draw backs, and fucked up. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to reread how they handled Comstar in the 4th Succession War, and definitely the War of 3039. Clan Wolf has nothing like that. Their only real defeats are offscreen ones to the Hells Horses. No the Refusal War doesnt count, because Clan Wolf didnt really lose when you look at the results of the War

In my headcanon Earth agrees to let Clan Wolf run the Star League so long as they don't touch anything or make any decisions that affect civil governance. I can't see Clan Wolf ruling the solar system let along the Hegemony unless the civilians co-operated.

The Mongol Doctrine was originally a Clan Hell's Horses battlefield doctrine that revolved around light cavalry tactics and speed, much like the Mongols of ancient Terra. In 3135 Malvina adopted it for the Jade Falcons but she transformed it to use terror to destroy and intimidate enemies. Which is also something the ancient Mongols of Terra did but the Falcons took it all the way to 11 in the Grim Dark future of BattleTech.

As a new player got to say Ilclan is my least favourite era, tech is to good to much clans over shadowing IS, no Comstar! But might be fun to see where it goes hopefully the clans will live long enough to see themselves become what they have fought so hard to destroy. I mean who doesn’t issue a battle challenge, very unclan like.

@@JadeDarkness8822 Some of Comstar were religious zealots others were merely technological theologians. But I think they added a flavour the setting didn’t have and replaced it with lashing and lashings of clan. I don’t mind the clan having the best toys in fact having technological superior foe can be fun to fight but it goes to far and you lose some of the “used future” feel. But hay just one man’s opinion 😃👍
