My brother and I used to play this game on the Genesis all the time. We'd gotten so good at it that we'd play it on Mode A and intentionally kick the crap out of each other, and still beat the game. Of course, it was never easy during the best of times, but it was always so fun!

Honestly, this is the game Battletoads SHOULD have been. Half straight brawler, half change up gimmick segments, with the difficulty toned down to what mortals can handle. If only this game didn't feel so much cheaper and had the better production values of the original Battletoads.

Loved this game as a kid. Played it with my neighbor all the time on Genesis. It's SOOO hard though, I don't think we ever managed to get past the 4th level. One of the earliest crossovers I can remember being really excited over...battletoads and double dragon being in the same game was nuts.

I remember as a kid expecting this game to be like "Double Dragon 2" (my fav of the DD series) and "Battletoads" combined...Only to be disappointed to find that Billy and Jimmy were essentially 2 extra Battletoads in human form. It was still a fun game, but back then I didn't realize how impossible it would be to code different fight styles into one NES game.

Double Dragon 1 and 2 were very common in arcades. I remember one instance where the jump button didn't work and you had to go "down, up" on the joystick to make Bimmy jump. I had the same thing happen (on one arcade box) with the TMNT arcade game. I have never seen Double Dragon 3 in the wild; I've only played it on MAME. Hoo boy. It doesn't even look like an official game. Animation? Who needs that? It's like the developers were still in the Alpha phase and corporate told them "We need a new game. Just ship what you have."

8:50 - The only NES games I'm aware of that actually scaled difficulty based on number of characters playing were the TMNT games. Less enemies would come out and the health of the bosses would decrease. I think the Contra games might've done that too, but I don't know for a fact.

@Sifer26 жыл бұрын
Look up the stats on how much bigger the gamer market is than when these games were produced. The total number of carts that were made were for a much smaller population of gamers in the 80s/90s. Now you have all these retro collectors, and you can see the problem. It's why the big companies are cashing in now with stuff like mini reproductions of the SNES.
@SeanSolomon112876 жыл бұрын

Hey James and Mike! Love the content, I never would have expereienced most of these games unless I saw your videos so thank you for that. I actually had a game request for you guys to play on James and Mike Mondays. The two games I request are Fury 3 (microsoft 95') on PC, and also Lemmings on PC. I don't if you're familiar with these games already, Fury 3 is like a flight simulator game super fun (oh I should mention that these are "Good!" games), and Lemmings, The objective of the game is to guide a group of anthropomorphised lemmings through a number of obstacles to a designated exit. To save the required number of lemmings to win, one must determine how to assign a limited number of eight different skills to specific lemmings that allow the selected lemming to alter the landscape, to affect the behaviour of other lemmings, or to clear obstacles to create a safe passage for the rest of the lemmings. (wikipedia lol) Anyways maybe consider looking at those games, or don't if you're too busy. Keep up the good work guys you guys rock.

It wasmone of those things though. Like...you had the game for a while. Like a couple of months. 1 month being the least. Couple of months being average......and your parents even forgot they bought it for you. So trading ir...they wouldn't even realize you had a knew game. Probably think they bought it. And as a kid...everyone had games, no one was actually trying to be sneaky with parents...it was just the mindset you had. I have this old thing I don't want, let's trade.
