Asian carp are tasty fish on the menu. Most people don't think so because a carp is considered a scavenging or "dirty" fish. Most other eaten fish are scavengers too to this is a false image problem. I say, if they are here, let's eat them out of existence.

I doubt they'll be able to "eat them out of existence" at that swanky $125 per plate restaurant. Turn them into Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, and sell 'em at buy one sandwich get two free. Now THAT would make a dent.

This wouldn't be a problem....IF we didn't also pollute our waterways so eating bottom-feeding fish was a risk to one's health. There is a reason why environmentalism is a big deal.

The problem with that is that these sounds don't just freak out carp, but other fish too. Carp stand out since they jump. Other fish become stressed (which can lead to infertility) or get scared away from motor boats too.

what if a catcher could be designed to tow behind a boat? as they jump, a near water level platform slopping inward towards an opening over a shallow bin glides under them. they land on the platform and slide down into the bin? just keep going over an area until the bin is full. other types of fish that don't jump don't get caught. just a thought.

Must be some way to make the bones soft enough to eat without noticing, as are bones in canned fist. AND make them taste great. Bones would be a good source of calcium. Do Asian Carp have the omega 3 fatty acids that protect the heart?

Only the ignorant think Asian carp aren't good to eat. Asian carp is served all over the world, and in a number of restaurants right here in America, but under a different name, and people love it, as long as they don't know what it is. Even common carp is highly popular, as long as you know how to clean it. Asian carp is an entirely different fish, and makes excellent eating.

What is crazy is a Chinese lady living in the states is selling these fish to China for big bucks. She and her partner own a fish plant and have been flash freezing them and shipping to China for years. Hundreds of thousands of dollars. People in the states weren't eating them until they renamed them SilverFin and put them on the local menu. Then they realized how tasty they were. Now they are showing up in restaurants where ever these fish inhabit the rivers. Not only that they are a good sport fish as well. It's amazing what propaganda can do, "invasive species, Asian carp" and people eat it up through ignorance. Now everyone wants in on the fish, in on the money.

Alec Higgins You are no longer visible bc you project what you are attempting to espouse. The silver carp are not in the great lakes, and they are managing them in other river systems through netting and fishing. Now get out of mom's basement and get a job. You might become a useful member of society, because you sure as hell are no expert on these fish.

In your dreams. Asian carp will not be able to fetch big bucks, even as the frozen fish being ship and sell to China, they still have to compete with local fish price, which is not much at all.

that has a ton of chemicals in it that we dont even know about. The fish is like 30 - 40 pounds minimum which is enough to feed one family after filleting it. we say its too bony, then take the bones out before we stuff our faces. Its a fish that literally jumps into your fishing boat and net, how hard can it be to try to catch them. we say its bottom feeders because the name is Carp when in reality they eat the algae and micro organisms on the surface of the water and are clean fish JUST EAT IT
