Thanks for bringing back a great memory when I was 14 just dock fishing at Satellite Beach, FL. Nowhere near the size of yours, but an hour long fight. Then two weeks to regain the use of my arms and about a month for the bruise to go away on my stomach where I wedged the rod butt under my ribs. LOL! If I had it to do all over again…. I’d do it all over again. Thanks again for the memory.

The first time I ever saw a grouper was on a party boat out of Galveston. After getting the 100+ pound fish on the deck, the angler asked the deck hand what it was. He said it was a Goliath Grouper. The angler said, "What do you fillet it with...a chainsaw?" I will always remember that and smile.

@@crasherxtreme Is it edible? You can find Goliath grouper on the menu in other countries, such as Cuba, so it is definitely a fish that can be eaten. It is not as tender as some fish, but it makes excellent fish stew and chowder, which is how the fish is often prepared.

@@supupandaway8138 They're endangered and can't be harvested. The problem with goliath grouper is that it takes 3-4 years for them to mature enough to spawn. They were hunted nearly to extinction in the US by spearfishing because they're fearless, you can swim right up and put the spear so it's literally touching their head and they just sit there. Attempting to film these types of videos does nothing but endanger the juvenile goliaths for clout.

Using a 130w in open water and the rail for leverage is completely different then a small conventional reel around a dock.

Born and raised in Miami. I’ve always thought of Grouper as the Largemouth Bass of saltwater. Goliaths have drowned spear fishermen that just couldn’t or wouldn’t let go.

Actually Snook are the salt water counterpart to largemouth. Also it has been illegal to take Jewfish for over 55 years and drowning divers is an "urban" myth. We used to catch them around Davis islands in the Seddon channel near downtown Tampa before it was illegal. FYI as far as pallatability there are better species, they get worms like red, and carbarita grouper do.

So unless you are a violator, live and fish outside US jurisdiction or a really old guy you wouldn't know how good eating they are. Conceded that the small ones are good but like most grouper when they get 60 to 70 pounds they get "old" tough and usually bugs in the meat. I would rather have a blackfish. Nice Goliath Grouper. I'm mainly a freshwater guy but nice fish and of course it's all about the challenge and respect of the fish by catch and release for a younger person to catch. Awesome video as always and subscribed to them both from this video. I live in Florida use to live in South Florida but now an hour northern Florida where I can Bass fish North end of Lake Okechobee or Kissimmee River or stick marsh or Lake placid Florida or other waters including the South water ways Ive fished all of these water systems since I was 2 years old. Heck yeah son! I've been waiting to see you snag into a Goliath for a LONG time! I've seen 500+ lb Goliaths take bodybuilders to their knees. Even a 50-100 lb Goliath is capable of making a grown man really work for it. I've caught some pretty serious fish and I lived in Florida for 8 years, but I never laced into a Goliath. Heck, catching red grouper was a challenge in itself.

MWC NY Awesome catch bro. Next ya should try noodling da fish. I have seen video of some ginormous fish. One fish took 3 guys to heave it into the boat. Gonna need a big grill,garlic,butter,some kind of seasoning rub,lemon slices,tarter sauce. 😋

I wish you would stream live on twitch or even youtube. This kind of fishing is pretty popular with the viewers on live streams. You have a great personality, you would make it big on twitch and the type of fishing you do would be great content trust me

This would limit where he can go because he would need a good 4G/5G signal to stream consistent good quality videos. It is definitely possible, but I know for a fact there is no coverage in many of the places he fishes.

I cant imagine pulling one of these out of docks. I struggled to get what I thought was a 40 off a wreck. Then again none of us on the boat knew what the weights of the fish were. If that was 60+ I could see mine being a bit shy of that.
