Had mine for over 2 years. hundreds of board feet through her. Oaks', walnut , cherry , pine, cedar, you name it. Currently running Rosewood (baby crib) build. One time I got carried away, she got a bit warm. I just stopped and let her cool off. Another random thing I have happen is the feed rollers slipping. No idea why. Run a board, grab another and no go. flip the board and it works.

Good to know and see what to do. Just bought a Bauer planer- haven’t used it yet (maybe today or tomorrow) so I’m saving this for later. Thank you!

I have the same planer and really like it. After a few years of use it's started to make a terrible high pitch grinding sound. I'm guess it's a bad bearing. Of corse there's no video's out there to help but with your's I can see how to tear into it. Thanks.

@ I ordered the drive gear box. The same roller as yours froze to the pillow block but I was able to get them apart. The pillow block should be made of graphited plastic ,graphited bronze ,maple, or lignin vitea . It just takes a speck of rust or dirt or wood dust to make this crash. If it was preloaded with oiled felt it might last longer.

High dollar yellow plastic, lowes had craftsman planer for 299 new in the box, it took me over 2 hours due to me not really knowing what to do, but now I think I could swap the motor in 15 minutes.
