I taught all 12 of our travel team the gangster curve. 8 of them had impressive movement in the first throw. They were 11u at beginning of 2021...now 12u. The gangster insures the middle finger has plenty of pressure and is the key. Great job Trevor! If your ever bored come visit us in North Carolina.

Love these videos. One thing I noticed in particular about this is that you spent a lot of time covering where the pitch ends up and how it might look to a hitter (e.g., might look like a fastball up, but ends up down) but you spend little time talking about the speed change. I don't see many hitters swing high and away at a fastball, but oops it was a low curveball. Instead, they start their swing and adjust to the location change, but it's too late to adjust their swing to the speed change. Hence they swing low and away, but are out front on the pitch, possibly swinging and missing or making weak contact. In any case, my broader point is that I think it is worth incorporating pitch speed into these kinds of videos as well.

Trevor. Thrilled for you on your legal matters. From a lawyer and a scout. Keep it up! Question: I see pitchers trying to throw their curveball-end up with the ball seemingly backing up on them. Going toward the right-handed hitter instead of across the plate-but that is not their intention. What is your thought on what is happening? Is it the ball coming off their fingers/hand in a pronation matter? Thanks.

Trevor, How effective is that "this is for subscribers only"? Does it actually make a difference?
@WatermeloGT5 ай бұрын
Quick question. Why did you drop your arm slot down? I throw over the top like you did, and I’m wondering if I should do the same. I’m currently 14 and throw a curve, 4-seam fastball, and a circle change-up. I mostly just throw the fastball curve combo though because I struggle to throw a changeup more than the other two, and it’s not very effective without good velo. Thank you.

For your curveball and slider, when do you set the angle of your wrist to the karate chop? In the glove? Just out of the glove? At the top? Just before the release?

I used to throw one decades ago after being taught how by my cousin. All according to grip once you got it right & it had amazing movement but not MLB caliber!
@patrickdufour49032 жыл бұрын
I am not so sure that hitters cannot read the difference in release point of fastball vs curveball. When I was watching you live this season, I could easily tell your curveball right from release when I was focussing on your hand. Ok, it was from a camera view from behind the pitcher and not the same view as the hitter, but still, I bet good hitters can see the difference as well if they see enough of those pitches in the same game. I always thought that was one of the reasons you gave so many solo HR late in games but I might be wrong...

Thanks Trevor, quite an evolution from the 12/6 eye learned in the 60's. (koufax tables) It's interesting that the middle finger is not getting backed up the same way behind the seam movement . That keeps the arm movement from being read? When we threw the 12/6 we would turn our wrist to lead with the two seam fingers. An easy read. As opposed to the karate chop presentation for each type of pitch you present. As an Aside: Your release point breaks the karate chop to your pitch form factor (curve, cutter, etc). therefore you cut down the time the batter has to read your pitch from arm motion. Due to your excellent video recapture.
