BMW Service - CJ750 / R71 Clone

This is a CJ750 that has sat idle for 11+ years. On 07 March 2013 that inactivity ceased.

Oh, I know the quality is all over the place! This seems to be one of the better ones. It came from the nephew of the former CJ dealer here in NH and was his personal ride. I suspect they picked the best units to sell to family. But time will tell. Hopefully we can get it finished and on the road by the end of the month :)

These were made from the 1950's to 1980's. This one is in the middle.

You have to understand that the current Ural airbox was a necessity to comply with US standards for noise. The decibel test for new vehicles is a drive-by test under hard accelleration. This is why the Ural airbox is heavy steel... to dampen the noise of the air being ingested. Is it a pain in the ass to remove? Sure, it can be but better that than to have no Ural at all. Soon will be mandated fuel-injection, 3 wheel anti-lock brakes and other such things that no one asked for but is required :(

Bike looks fantastic.. How old is the bike. It looks like it should be from the 30s but I guess it's a newer Chinese copy.. But how much newer?
