In the minds of Indian intellectuals (especially Hindu), the most important thing is to maintain communal harmony in India. To do that, if truth needs to be suppressed, then so be it. If lies need to be told , then so be it. If Hindus need to be branded as fascists and be made guilty of their very existence, then so be it. In their minds, there is nothing morally wrong in doing so as this is all for the greater good of maintaining communal harmony and to protect the Muslim minority in India. For them, Hindus are more than 80 percent of the population, so there is no harm in either constantly demonizing the community as a whole, or vilifying the religion itself. They couldn't of course be bothered by the fact that that history tells a different story.

A massive gang of Bengali exHindu upper-caste bhadraloks, which has monopolized nonSTEM departments in key Indian universities and have monopolized south Asia studies departments across Western universities have this impulsive compulsion to underplay atrocities against Hindus and have this impulsive compulsion to defend crimes inspired by Islam and/or committed by Muslims. I have never understood the "genesis" of this impulsive compulsive behavior of the class. Many of these Hindu-sounding Bengali Bhadrloks are either ex-Hindus or Catholics but falsely represent themself as Hindus in "global forums". This class of Bhadrloks has been and still is playing this game very very shrewdly. Bhadrloks have been at it for the past 5-6 generations.
