The long awaited GS850 build is finally complete! I found this 1979 Suzuki GS850 for sale on Facebook Marketplace. It had seen its fair share of miles but it had a ton of life left in the tank! It was a 2 owner bike and both owners kept great service records on all the maintenance that was done. I removed everything from the bike and restored each part piece by piece. The frame and other components were powder coated and the tank and fenders were painted in BMW Isle of Man Green (C4G). This bike rides like a brand new machine now!

I kept a lot of original parts on this bike because I really love the vintage style the GS850 already has but I have to say that delkevic exhaust was well worth the money. It made this bike sound 1000 times better!

I have a 1981 Suzuki as my first bike and man. the old school bikes are difficult to find people who can work to bring it back to it’s former glory, i Wish i can just give you my bike and work you’re magic on it, bike always gives me a new difficulty but i still have love and want to turn it to a cafe racer

In 1979 I bought a GS1000, loved that bike. In 1987 I bought a GS850 in need of love. Restored it and drove it for two years. Loved that bike too.

Seeing this was awesome. I was the original owner of a 1979 GS1000E and this is a lot like that bike other than the shaft drive vs. 630 O-ring chain. The sound of that engine with the new 4 into 1 exhaust brings back memories. My 79 is long gone but I have a 1984 Honda VT500FT that's been in storage for some years, and I'd love to get her back on the road. Looks like your buddy @ditstang can work miracles with carbs, and I'm sure mine need that kind of TLC.

I must say, this GS looks excellent. Beautiful green with matching front fender. A lot of cafe style bikes look kind of hokey, but this is definitely tasteful. The 850 is happy again.

I had a ‘79 GS850G just like that but without the hideous little seat, the dumb frame cuts and silly looking fender treatment. It was a fantastic bike and the stock seat was the best ever put on a bike IMO.

These bikes become almost impossible to tune with the pod filters and in florida it rains a lot so I decided stick with the stock airbox for that reason! Appreciate you watching and leaving a comment! 🙌🏻

Yes, did all that off camera. I learned my lesson trying to put pod filters on a 79 GS425. These bikes are happiest with the stock airbox.

Thank you! I think I have around 140 hours into this build. Not including all the extra time to film it all. The Delkevic exhaust really woke this beast up! It sounds amazing ripping down the street.

lol, I had to pause and back up... Yep, a Redstone Arsenal pass. On the south end of the base there is a road that went from the south end over to memorial parkway. I had an old GS 1000S in the mid/late 80s that I could hit the top end on on my way down that road. Exhilarating and horrifying at the same time.
