I learned from my grandmother (born in the 1930s) that you don’t need to sift flour with anything except either a fork or a large balloon whisk. She said to just get in there and scratch around real good and be done with it 😆 I donated my sifter, did it her way, and have never ever had a problem with it 😊

I agree with the sheet numbers. We take it one step further, if we are staying at someone else’s place, we take a clean set with us and put them on our bed when we get home. People never mind because it means they don’t have to wash them.

I’m in the middle of a home edit and I was feeling a bit down on the amount of stuff we have. I realised that with a family of 12, it makes logical sense that I might have 2 baking trays where you only have 1. Watching this have me renewed strength to keep editing. I hope you have a great day

Your dress that you made looks so pretty on you👗✨. Thank you for sharing how many of each item you have. I now only have 2 sets of sheets-a fleece set for cold weather and a cotton set for warm weather-which seems to work well for us. I was thinking we didn’t have enough bath towels but now I think we’re actually ok. And I think I can part with 2 pans and some measuring cups and spoons too. I used to feel like I needed to keep certain things or extra amounts of things “just in case”, of what I am not sure. Lol! Thanks for inspiring me to let go and create more breathing room in my home and life 🙏💕✨.

Your house looks lovely and well organized, I agree with you about not having extra sets of things for just in case. if you can get by without the item-that is money saved and puts less strain on the environment. Also you can always ask around or borrow items for those special occasions that only occur a few times per year. We are having family stay with us for Christmas, and my guests have always brought their own pillows from home. I might need to have someone bring an extra comforter but I know they won’t be offended that I don’t have complete bedding sets for 5 extra people.

One of my hardest minimises was giving away my wine glasses. My husband never drinks and I hardly do so I was just keeping them for guests. You can drink wine just as well from a water glass so it was really just for appearances. I try to remind myself that if someone would judge me for something like that they then probably aren't someone I want to have over anyway!

What a great video to make! I also enjoy Miss Minimalist‘s 1 of each thing concept. With a family I think I did ok reducing what we had re bedding and towels, similar to you thanks to a washing machine in the house. Some things are going to depend on how you live, eg now we are only 2 ppl in the house but my mom often stays with us for a few days, or my grandkids stay over, sometimes one but sometimes 2, my daughter who lives further away visits and now has a baby plus sometimes it‘s with hubby or not, and then I have more formal friends staying 1-2 wks from abroad so it took me a while to get sorted with beds and bedding… since I may have up to 6 beds (single/double) in use at one time and need to be flexible. I have 6 duvet/pillow sets plus a couple of blankets, that‘s for us and visitors, all single size so interchangeable. It‘s common here for double beds to be made of 2 single mattresses and for each person to have their own duvet (I know English-speakers find that unusual but it‘s very practical!) and that is the sweet spot for our current situation. We also use the good silver and dishes every day.

This was super helpful to have something to compare to. Our three kids are grown and live on their own now but they come home often to visit and we have a grandson so I feel like even though we are empty-nesters now the family is growing! They aren’t here all the time but enough that I still feel like there are things I need to keep in my kitchen so that I have plenty for everyone. However, I am going to pare down again. I love that you said minimalism has taught you to work things out and make do. Thanks for another great video! I’m so glad you’re back💕

When I saw the "lolly" cake I thought it was stained glass cookies made with colored mini marchmallows. Here's a recipe I found for it. Ingredients 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or 12 ounces best quality dark chocolate, finely chopped 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 bag (10.5 ounces) colored mini marshmallows Directions In a large bowl combine butter and chocolate. Microwave on high for approximately 45 seconds. Stir then repeat at 20-second intervals until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla until thoroughly combined. Let chocolate cool for a few minutes until it is cool to the touch, but hasn't hardened. Fold in marshmallows and stir to completely coat marshmallows in chocolate. Spoon mixture in shape of a log down the center of a sheet of wax paper about 24 inches in length. Roll up sides of waxed paper and twist the ends to seal. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set. Cut in 1/3 inch slices and serve. Keep in the refrigerator, covered. This topic of "How Many Things" is a very helpful one. I love stainless steel for the kitchen and now have way more measuring cups and spoons than I likely will ever use during a cooking session. So found another thing to reconsider. I notice as time goes by you switch out things. Do you have a budget you like to stick to? Maybe another video topic? I think minimalism seems so austere but with you incorporating new things regularly, it doesn't feel that way. I like how you haven't decided you've arrived at nirvana but keep your eye open for improvements!

Hi Bayley, another interesting and well Put together video thank you for sharing. I’m guessing lolly is sweets? as I follow an Australian family & heard them call sweets “lolly”. Here in U.K. we call candy( sweets ) and lollies mean lollipops 🍭 or ice cold lollies. ( popstickles). I imagine your family here in U.K. would call lolly... sweets by now. It’s interesting all the diff meanings pending which country you live. I’m wondering about all your cleaning products do you have a one purpose duel cleaner or a few separate products? I’m still trying to eliminate my cleaning stash but working my way through it all instead of being wasteful & throwing it all. I know you have minimal cleaning supplies under your sink I’d be interested in seeing this again. Also maybe coat bags and shoes as I have a cupboard full but not as many as some ppl have a mud or boot rooms/ utility room. I have limited space in my cupboard under my stairs to store coats shoes and cleaning supplies but I would love to make it even more minimal and use it for a quiet nook for my cats to enjoy. Have a great week Happy Halloween 🎃. Also are you using the cloth sacks again for your boys Christmas gifts? I love this idea xx
