Trying to create something that's not there A spark I saw as a bomb is just a means to an end And I was just so happy to be out of my shell again Don't think that I really cared for who or what So for now I'll just have to keep it shut [Pre-Chorus] If you're not ready, you're not ready Please stop acting like you are [Chorus] How could I know That everything you say are lies About devotion and desire? And I know the spark Inside your eyes was just the match I used to set myself on fire [Verse 2] My mouth's shooting blanks Situation's unbearable I've gotten vulnerable Now anyone is free to waltz right in My temple's been invaded And there's nobody guarding it All over this lonely life But what's so wrong with being all alone? Alone's the only way I've ever known [Pre-Chorus] If you're not ready, you're not ready Please stop acting like you are [Chorus] How could I know That everything you say are lies About devotion and desire? And I know the spark Inside your eyes was just the match I used to set myself on fire [Bridge] And I'm pleading 'Cause this kills and It's still bleeding My darling I'm taking My life back To start healing [Chorus] How could I know That everything you say are lies About devotion and desire? And I know the spark Inside your eyes was just the match I used to set myself on fire

@salvadorsandoval48964 жыл бұрын
This is "True Emo". Not the emo ruined by greedy corporations trying to milk off every dollar from you by over saturating it with generic chord progressions and non original lyrical themes. Bayside knows how to play emo the right way. I feel that they play more of a tougher emo with more originality in their lyrics.

This album came out the summer I graduated high school and I loved it to death. I'm pretty sure I burned a hole in that cd listening to this song and Montauk relentlessly day after day. The whole album made such an impression on me that I COULDN'T AVOID LISTENING TO IT CONSTANTLY. 2yrs later they put out Walking Wounded and forget it, I destroyed 3 of those cd's from over-listening. THen I grew up a bit and stopped listening to Bayside obsessively. But the other day, I threw this album and Walking Wounded on for old times-sake. I quickly realized how these songs hit me the same way as back then but they've taken on a whole new meaning because now I'm 28, not 18. Regardless, the songs are just as relevant. What makes this album so great (#1) is the honestly genuine lyrics. I think Anthony Raneri approaches his craft in a way that he will be deep inside my head whether I'm 18, 28, 38, 48 etc. What else makes this album great (#2) is the guitar freakouts that come at a relentless pace. This album and Walking Wounded have songs that have 2 or 3 guitar solos apiece. And mind you, those albums came out at a time when guitar solos weren't particularly cool. I'm pretty sure that their guitar styles were another reason I latched on to those albums so hard. If you were a scene kiddo circa 2005-2007, you know what I'm saying. Bayside was the coolest band of that time. They broke trends in a way that made them so much cooler than other bands of that time/genre.. If you weren't a scene kiddo in the golden age, you probably think my post sounds stupid and overly long and you are fully entitled to your opinion, so go enjoy yourself!!!!

seriously don't understand why so many people hate Bayside lol. from an unbiased musician's point of view i think they put they write really well. i'm not awesome but i do know how music should go together and love bands of all genres. something tell me people that don't like them secretly love them but feel embarrassed because they've chosen to set themselves on one or a few different genres of music, so if it doesn't fit into those genres it has to be shit to them for some reason

EerieBetrayal The guitar is amazing but i'm not a fan of their vocals at all. Maybe it reminds me too much of green day or good charlotte. They aren't bad but not anything special either.
@EerieBetrayal9 жыл бұрын
chance allen it's the guitar work and vocal harmonies that got me into them for sure, mind you i don't think he sounds anything like Joel or Billie Joe. i think Bayside is a fuck load more interesting than Good Charlotte when it comes to vocal melodies and wouldn't go as far as comparing them to Greenday personally, though some of the chord progressions are a similar style. it's just one band that i heard and liked pretty much straight away, which only happens about once in every 10 bands i hear. of course i don't expect anyone to share the exact same view as me, that'd just be stupid lol

This song is amazing, the guitar solo is incredible. Do more of their music has guitar solos? This song was the jam back in the day

A lot of Bayside songs has guitar solos. They remind me of Sum 41 meets Alkaline Trio

I first heard this song in 2006 and it still hits just as hard today as it did back then!

1 million views!? Fuck yeah, I always knew Bayside would gain some traction... most underrated artist of the last 15 years, hands down.

Could this be considered "True Emo"

Yes.

Yes Sir this is "True Emo". Not the emo ruined by greedy corporations trying to milk off every dollar from you by over saturating it with generic chord progressions and non original lyrical themes. Bayside knows how to play emo the right. I feel that they have more of a tougher emo with more originality in their lyrics.

"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
