TBH I can absolutely see Mitch finding Mjolnir and having to fight a jotun. In the end of the episode Thor appears, in cheap costume and shrouded by fog a machine, takes back Mjolnir and makes Mitch a honorary Asgardian. Also Mitch have dead Vanir girlfriend now.

Fun fact; the term “berserker” is commonly misinterpreted and actually means “bear-shirter” or “bearskin,” which they wore, these mercenaries would then lend themselves out as bodyguards and such to Kings and Jarls in Northern Europe. 🤓👍

"Berserkr" could also have meant "bare chested" (no shirt), at least according to Snorri Sturluson, as the bear-bare similarity also existed to Old Norse (or Snorri was engaging in his own person folk etymology). In all the sagas the berserker were always the bad guys and basically dicks, so at the show got one thing right, albeit unintentionally,

We all know that Viking warriors didn't wear horned helmets and that was something made up by the costume designer for Wagner's operas, yes? There is horned headgear depicted in Viking art as being worn by Norse gods like Odin, but not by soldiers. Speaking of costuming, not for nothing, I keep thinking back to when Allison said "if you thought Season 1 was cheap, man oh man can you feel the lack of money now."

Y'know, I think of that article a while back that talked about how Angela Lansbury used to arrange bit parts for a lot of her friends and compatriots on "Murder, She Wrote" to help them stay in good standing with the Screen Actors Guild because a lot of them were at risk of losing their union benefits due to lack of work. This is why so many legends of the Golden Age of Hollywood would pop up in this glorified walk-on roles as Cabot Cove's librarian or whatever. Somehow I sense that's what is going on with Mulhare here.

The "I'm Griff" gag always gets me, but that line right after Mitch tries to be more serious about Viking history is hilarious. I love how the ending made you laugh so hard too. The whole episode just looked like utter nonsense, but Mitch shouting "Valhalla!" right before he fires off the flaming arrow does make it more worthwhile.

Excellent commentary, Allison. Two thoughts spring to my mind. First, there is no reason whatsoever for Mitch to be here, except to go chasing around the docks after the Viking. Teague might as well have told Mitch that they were going to release the Viking for Mitch to chase so that they could have an episode. Second, Mulhare is only in this episode for the sake of the cameo. He was nothing but fanservice for Night Rider fans.
