@@ThinkSpaceEducation I've been out of the UK since 2004 and play primarily heavy metal. Your channel is pure gold and I only recently realised that you used to be on TV Guy. Thanks for the joyous channel and as others have already remarked, for being the music teacher (who'd probably buy sixth formers their first double Chartreuse) we never really had. That being said, we were actually lucky to have teachers who could make the old school orchestral stuff relevant in the modern world.

For anyone wondering about unloading/purging - an update's just been released that lets you edit articulations like in pro, so you only need to have the ones that you're using stored in the RAM, which makes it much more usable

Did they fix the problem of playing double notes in staccato with violins? It may affect probably all strings or all instruments... did not tested everyone of em but had the problem from the start as soon as I try to play two identical short notes in a row with violin. It play only one that is the length of both... frustrating. 😕 Hope it gets fixed. @christianhenson @paulthompson

It's a good library, wish you lots of fun with it. Spitfire itself is a pretty shady company though. They lie and ban customers who critique them. Spitfire is having it's head on the chopping block on Twitter as we speak for how they handled their Westworld scoring competition. They have nice products, but you might want to rethink if you really want to keep supporting them. That said, again, have fun with Core!

@@anancha4665 Basically the whole thing is about the winner of the competition and how he only won because he knew one of the judges. At least that's what I know. Overall, I don't really see how they're shady. Some of the critiques in the reviews are literally on their website

The reason you’d rather write something slow and sad on a gloriously sunny day in the uk, is because gloriously sunny days in the uk are so rare! I’ve lived in London for over 12 years and love this country. Jokes aside, when the sun comes out over there it feels like Devine sparkling dust is being casted upon humanity. No wonder why you’d get so inspired then. And oh Goodness, you did get inspired indeed! What a great short piece you’ve improvised with just a single stroke. I’m finding this deeply touching. Can’t get enough of your videos. Thank you

The other day I was just thinking this week I've spent more time watching your videos and less time making music myself! Then your video appeared "Don't watch this, go make music!". I was off, keyboard on, PC booted up and had great fun making stuff up. Thanks all for the videos, wonderful stuff!

What a frightful piece of music, but an absolute delight to spend time in your wonderful company. Thank you. Core is " almost" all you need to deliver convincing orchestral music right out of the box. I augment it with the Chamber Strings, which I already owned; you need those close mics and legatos to help "sell" the idea it is a real orchestra. I also use the Symphonic Brass and Symphonic Woods, AND the solo strings, which essentially means, core is just for sketching, you will need more ammunition to actually deliver convincing orchestra music out of the box to the public, which is entirely 'do-able' with BBCSO PRO, or augmentation with earlier libraries. So, Core is only worth every penny...if you buy Pro. Also, well worth mentioning, Spitfire has templates, large and small for these libraries, for Logic, etc, and they can save you many hours of routing and setting up tracks for all of the articulations, etc. Pretty mind blowing. Those templates are one of the best freebies out there.

You watch intently, not blinking, following every step, convinced you know under which cup the red foam ball will appear, only to be suprised to find its seemingly disappeared and there's large orange there in its place. 'Final piece is magical. 'Love it! 😎 😎 😎

I always love your videos Guy, and the massive enthusiasm, wit and humour you bring to every one (plus the cameos by Mr H Zimmer and the Sunglasses of Doubt)... I was caught off-guard by the comment at the end about fish-finders and bicycles though... Just when I thought the video was done giving me a good chuckle, I almost spat my coffee out at that comment. Not to worry though as it's definitely not 90 degrees outside any more, so the consumption of boiling liquids is back on the agenda!

Thanks again Guy... incredibly inspirational as always. Bought CORE, using the Spitfire template with tracks enabled as required and was able to follow through perfectly well using just an I5 processor with a measley 16GB RAM... bit of a test as main PC to one side at the moment. No pops, clicks or otherwise... using Cubase 10.5 Really enjoyed this video. Would love to see how you go about using Core to write a cue for film or TV. Sometimes the sheer breadth of proposition and instruments available can be daunting knowing which to start with... followed your video step by step and will probably use similar structure to start next time. Thanks again for your superb content... Cheers!

Tomás Palazzi I don't know the exact process, but I know in discovery the samples are very simplified. For example there are no round robins and I believe the reverb and what not are essentially "baked in" or something so you can't control it and that's how they get the sizes so small. Very engrossing piece; may be drop the flutes, to me it sounds like they're clashing rhythmically with the trombones. I think it is important to note that the Core edition of the BBCSO doesn't include any solo strings, only some solo brass and woodwinds - as I'm looking for a first symphonic library, it's an important factor. Another important thing: hot tea is the best thing on a hot day.

Not even sure if these things will be read anyone! Guy, thank you so much for an entertaining and informative introduction to BBCSO core. I am not trained in musical theory, however it is very inspiring to see your approach of "just give it a try". Definitely subscribing to your channel. Do you have any videos dedicated to dialling in articulation and dynamics to make the parts more realistic?

Hi Guy, how is the new keyboard doing now that you had it for a bit? Any regrets, excitements, surprises? PS: I love watching how you use different instruments to emphasise different parts. There is sooooo much I still have to learn.

Hi Guy. Since the BBC Symphony plugins is NKS compatible, why don't you load it with Komplete Kontrol instrument ? You could have access to lots of éléments directly with the knobs of your S88!

Spitfire sounds amazing, I really like dems of the ARO as well. I don't have a lot of cash to get this, but I do have Miroslav Philharmonik 2. I'd love to see a demo of that, just to see how close it can get to the Spitfire libraries.

Hi Guy, thanks for making such awesome videos. Love your enthusiasm - it's contagious. :) I have just one beginner question. I use DaVici Resolve 16 for video editing and Cubase AI as DAW (because both are free) and would like to know how to score diegetically into an existing video scene by scene. The question is not so much about music theory but about the technique and tools used to establish sync between video and audio on the fly. I heard some noise about Resolve Fairlight but don't know where the bells and whistles are, if you get my pathetic attempt to make a pun.

Since I already have a bicycle and i don't like surf, do you think this would be a good addition to EWSO Gold and some older sample sets? What I feel could be really better on my current sets is legatos, which aren't very good in EWSO. I probably would need to add a solo instrument package after as that seems what is completely missing from Core. Or just wait sometime and get the upgrade to the big one. 1000 € for this is a bit steep for a hobbyist nowadays...

Thank you Guy for the great videos! You are an inspiration! I just got Discovery for $49! And I also purchased, The Bosendorfer Piano from Vienna Symphony. (You did a review of this piano in a previous video and I loved it!) Quick question: The Discovery plug in....Can you only use one instrument? In other words...I'm trying to use more than one instrument in my arrangement and it looks like I can only use one sound. It won't let me use multiple tracks with the plug in....Thank you!

Now that's what I call a serious cuppa, Guy. It's a brave man who takes on the world at 90F without fortification. Mad dogs and Englishmen. Mind you, there is a dash of NC bubbling beneath the surface... PS - Interesting that you use Celli in the absence of an ensemble. Relief. Thought I might be violating protocol.

Just bought the BBC SO COre, and I really have a problem with Brass. I can't make them sound "brassy" in fff. I also have the Studio Brass Pro and if you don't take care while playing on CC, they bite you !!! I would like to have that kind of sound... Help !
