My work colleague who is from Goa had been paying for a TV licence since he arrived in the UK 3 years ago. When I told him I don't have one he asked me why, he also said I could be arrested lol. I sat him down and explained everything to him and I was amazed when he told me he doesn't even own a TV but he thought it was law to have a licence. Thankfully he has now cancelled his licence and was refunded for the previous year. He has now helped many others from his community do the same.

I asked them to provide me evidence of this detector van and what it does.... they told me they couldn't as it was TOP SECRET equipment or something along those lines. So I asked them to hold on a minute, and went and got a device that I used for testing electrical equipment, I held it in front of the goons and asked them if they could repeat what they just said.... Theys aid it again, and I made the device beep.... I then told them that this was my bullshit detector, and it had just detected high levels of bullshit, but I couldn't tell them how it worked, as it was top secret government equipment.... and shut the door in the their face.....

Not regretting, for one second, quitting the TV license. So many people only pay out of fear, which makes it extortion. Please if you don't let them in your home & don't answer the goons questions (which is perfectly legal for yo to do) & you don't watch/record live broadcast TV or iplayer (ie as being transmitted) you have nothing to worry about. The strong arm tactics are just that intimidation without foundation.

So......I phoned them up and I told them, the ONLY reason I even had a licence was because my LATE husband watched the telly I DID NOT. I watched none of it, I always watched art dvds or streamed amazon and youtube. I bet my refund does NOT go back to 2015(when the licence was in MY name) I never knew till watching your channel I didnt need a licence for watching the stuff I watch. Will be interesting to see what refund I actually get.

If you watch terrestrial TV and pay your licence, you are in effect paying for the inconvenience of watching TV services from decades ago. Paying to have to wait for your programmes allotted time. Paying to have fewer choices. Why would people still do this? Cancel your licence, get a refund and watch content the modern way, what you want, when you want it, on a device you want to watch it on. Can you think of something else you'd rather spend your £159 on?

I’ve been harassed by TV licensing for years! They write to me pretty much every month threatening me with an investigation and asking if I will be in on such and such a date because they are going to call round! I’ve been in every time and they have stood me up every time! Im looking forward to them eventually turning up because I’m going to enjoy slamming my door in their face! I don’t have to explain to Tesco that I’m shopping in Asda so why do I have to explain to them that I don’t support the BBC? I mean there is so much you have to have in life like car insurance for example but you don’t get insurance companies threatening you through your letter box if you haven’t bought it through them so why are the BBC allowed to do it? Why do the BBC assume they are so great that everyone in the country must watch them! I’ve not watched BBC for years and don’t miss it! I don’t watch any live tv so I don’t require a licence and I shouldn’t be harassed and made to feel like some kind of criminal because I don’t wish to use their service! The Saville cover up was my limit! I’m not paying into or supporting that! The BBC can kiss my arse!

This is a great problem as it is not worth the fee due to the terrible wokeism being imposed on all kinds of programs sometimes you would almost think the broadcasts were for the Caribbean as it seems the 3.5% of the population are over represented and are inserted in the countries history particularly the 1950’s and 60’s. Even a modest little daytime program like Father Brown set in the early 50’s has to have black and mix race characters at a time when none would have existed in small British communities. I understand they have a Diversity Manager on the staff to ensure that this policy is carried out and is paid over 1000,00 pounds per year needless to say I will not be paying the poll tax this year as I used to get it free anyway!

Cancelling my TV license was the most freeing thing I've done for a long time - & it was all thanks to this vlog! Literally, the only thing that I'd watch, even if the BBC were suddenly free, would be Doctor Who - but then, I just bought this whole season 13 on DVD, to watch all together - something I've been doing for years - so wouldn't even need it for that! Lol How the BBC think that they are giving a good service, though, I'll never know - but I really wish that the commission was happening sooner than 2027, as I'm sure there are more unsatisfied clients, than satisfied, now. Campbell said they can't please everyone, but that's exactly what they should be able to do. Commercial broadcasting channels must cater to the majority in order to attract advertising revenue. The BBC's revenue is not dependent on advertising, in fact, the more popular commercial channels like ITV and Channel 4 are, the more revenue they get from those viewers requiring licences. They have the ability to create pioneering, no holds barred, quality TV, but instead they squander their coffers on God knows what.

If any real action was to take place for 2027 the roadmap would have to be put in place NOW. It is patently obvious that absolutely nothing is going to be done about the License fee. Just before the expiry of the Royal Charter in 2027 the government will announce extension after extension to allow the BBC to formulate a plan - with only 22,000 staff this will then take another 15 years, then 10 years to prepare, another 5 years as there was not enough time, then 5 years notice period and a 5 year transition phase. In the meantime the BBC will continue to take on debt and obligations that are underwritten by the government (that's us) so when they eventually get defunded, we will be left with debts of £100 Billion. The BBC are blood sucking leeches that will bleed the British people dry aided by complicit spineless politicians

It's a shame if the BBC is privatised. There would be a good chance they would use it as an excuse/not have the money to run content like BBC bite-size, which is actually a really good free service to help people keep up with their education. I doubt it will be provided for free if we have to pay for the BBC. For a broadcaster showing almost 24/7 on many channels, why do you think there is so much reality crap (yea it is crap I don't want it) - it's cheap to make and a good filler for people who do. No major network could survive making only expensive content (like Line of duty for example). The comment on the show about "using the streaming service to watch it when I want", only really works for Netflix, otherwise Disney, Amazon still release 1 episode a week in a painfully slow release schedule, and that's if Netflix hasn't bought the rights, else it is still 1 episode a week as well. At the end of the day, if you don't want to pay for it, fair enough. However, I doubt everyone fully understands what the BBC does and still does for pushing tech. Do hope it continues as it is long into the future as it is still viewed as one of the greatest networks around the world, which will probably be lost if/when it gets privatised and sold off.

Couldn't agree more. Completely understand people's crevences with the BBC at the moment but I don't think making the BBC private would be a good solution. The BBC puts so much money into R&D for the whole industry. First colour TV channel, first HD channel, first and currently only UHD live broadcasts on a PSB all done by the BBC. Also if they were beholden to advertisers means they couldn't make more niche programmes especially in the culture and arts genre. Instead they would make cheap entertainment for the lowest common denominator. My solution for the current problems would be this. Reduce he number of managers and deparent heads and putting that money back into quality programming. Stop harassing people who are not registered as having a TV license and give the over 65s their free access back. Put more focus into iplayer and make it the main focus so it can compete better with the other streaming services. We all know linear TV is dying and the number of repeats and reality shows on air is a clear sign of this. The main problem the bbc has is public perception and lack of quality output. Just my thoughts would love to discuss if people disagree.
