I can't speak about Chris Moyles as a person but the content of his radio show is pitiful. Typical Radio 1 garbage where the you hear nothing but inconsequential drivel in between songs (which seem to be of secondary importance). Anyone accepting that as entertainment needs to take a serious look at themselves. Shame Chris Packham didn't get chance to say all he wanted to.

Agree Room 101 was much better with Paul Merton and before that Nick Hancock. This is pure unwatchable bullcrap which is just typical of BBC1 amazing ability to ruin great shows that originated from BBC2. Just waiting for QI or MTW to go the same way.

@mattwoolley1 I have a sense of humour but when you have to wade through vast amounts of nothingness to get to it, who would want to bother? I love good radio (thank god for community radio, long live All FM) but the Chris Moyles show scrapes the bottom of the barrel quality wise. I just don't understand people who accept pure codswallop as entertainment.

As a former fan I can safely say that he's just overrated. I just happen to be a sucker for simple humour which is why I used to get on with his show, stuff like his remix of the Wallace and Gromit theme got a chuckle out of me as did the game where him and his cohosts would mimic a reversed lyric from a song and then play their copy forwards to see how it sounds. I'm not saying either of those things are comedy gold and I can understand why a lot of people won't find them funny, I just personally find it funny. But yeah, after a while the routine kinda grows stale and even I have to admit that I don't understand how he's managed to keep his show going for so long. There's also moments where he can be a bit of a diva (like the famous Never Mind the Buzzcocks incidence) and rather full of himself which is enough to irritate anyone who has the time to care. Short answer to your comment: a little bit of both.

@SnorkyO It seems that like Chris Packham your impression of Moyles is based on what gets distorted/reported in the press. Haven't got the space here to go through it all but the Auschwitz comments was actually about the amount of episodes of Who Do You Think You Are that feature the Holocaust, it was not an Auschwitz/Holocaust joke. In the same link he said that the Jerry Springer (holocaust centric) episode was excellent of course part that didn't make the papers.

@russsmiff1 The music on radio1 is crap at least most of it, you need to invest in a sense of humour perhaps from ebay then you may find it entertaining. someone judging someone else by saying they "need to take a serious look at themselves" for simply liking someone has got a bit too much free time.i accept its not the most intelligent humour but its humour non the less which you simply dont have you only have a critical personality, there are too many people like you unfortunately.

I daren't tick myself up to look at the 'tickers' for risk of being a bit self worshipping (that includes both pot AND kettle of course) I only really used to cringe when Moyles used to sign songs (parody) and actually BELIEVE he sings. I used to turn the volume down at the moment of Parody signing. HOWEVER---- When compared to Chris packham? First I had to do a search to find out who the hell he is. I found out that he was for/against certain politically charged subjects which - while I might disagree somewhat with them I thought 'fair enough' and moved on Then~ THEN~~ I find out he is militantly agains (get ready - this is very controversial) 'the imperial measures' (i.e.,miles, pints, feet, yards, inches, stones etc) I thought 'WHAT A PR*CK*. To be militantly against certain words who - despite instructions from the EU and other 'intelligence' sources that we must be 'sorted out' and stopped using such an 'old and [insert list of insults] system seems a bit bonkers! Just because we - the public prefer to use miles, weigh in st LB, height [feet/inch] - understand MPG - instinctual to PSI, MPH. I understand that some people will prefer metric and just gets on with it - I don't mind! - but this rabbit worrier - hates me for being 5'11". Mad? It's like finding out that 3 or 4% of men are gay in the UK so we must all turn that way. Obscure comparison but there's some logic in there somewhere....! "WHAT DO WE WANT' - ' LOTS OF KILOMETRES PER HOUR' - WHEN DO WE WANT IT'- 'GRADUALLY AS CARS CAN BE FORCED TO RUB OUT THE 'EVIL' MPH WORDS" (It does have a ring to it I guess)
