So not only is Moyles bad at recognising songs despite constantly going on about having an encyclopaedic knowledge of songs, he's bad at recognising what show he's on; Mark is someone who'll take the piss out of guests for either being narcissistic or occasionally just because he feels like it, which means the safest bet would've been to turn down the offer to be on the show because at least then, at worst, he might've got a quick one liner joke from Mark regarding the rejection of the invite but it'd still be better then getting absolutely roasted throughout the run of an entire episode.

@EmyrDerfel5 жыл бұрын
Mark hosted various radio shows as a stand-in presenter until his show Shake, Rattle and Roll started on BBC Radio 2 in 1998. He also hosted The Reggae Show and Mark Lamarr's Alternative Sixties. In 2006, R2 launched a new Lamarr show, God's Jukebox, in the midnight - 3am slot which continued until he left the station at the end of 2010, declaring that the station had lost interest in non-mainstream music, which makes sense considering BBC 6Music started broadcasting on DAB radio in 2002. NMTB was hosted by Mark from 1996 to 2005, so his exit from public awareness didn't happen immediately after his last quiz.

No, Moyes wasn't in on it. If you watch the whole show, he looks most upset not at the digs at him (which were fairly infrequent and mild) but when Phil, Bill and Vic were riffing and he was completely incapable of joining in. His reaction to the show was self-loathing; he thought he was funny but was brought crashing to the ground when faced with actual comedians. And the thing is that there's no shame in that - the shame was in how he was unable to handle it and how he lashed out afterwards.

It wasn’t Lamar it was Amstel after he read off bits of Preston’s (then) wife from her memoir! Then Huey threw a mug at Rizzle Kicks! Plenty of people got pissed off at Lamar but I don’t remember a walk off but I was only 8 when this programme first aired so my memory isn’t great! But Moyles is a twat he couldn’t think of a funny comeback so he moaned about how mean they were to him after he’d left. If I went on this show I’d expect a bunch of jokes at my expense, it’s how they always did it. If you can’t handle having the piss taken out of you just don’t sign up to do it!
@chrispalmer78932 ай бұрын
If memory serves, Moyles stormed out and said they'd never be able to show it, but he did so after they'd finished recording so it didn't really work. The storm off during the show was Preston (no, I didn't remember who he was either), but that was under Simon Amstell and at around the time when the show got a little bit too fond of baiting their guests; eventually Phil Jupitus nearly quit because he was finding it really uncomfortable and they started really struggling to find people who were prepared to do the show. In fairness to Amstell, he was very funny when he was being unpleasant and a lot of people took a lot worse punishment than Preston without walking out.
