Doesn't he ? Accents are contagious, but you can also drop them fast for an american neutral mix you hear on TV when you travel. We all do, more or less. As an au-pair for just a few months with Two adoptive and two biological kids in England, I noticed early on that the yougest black girl used an "American accent" more than anyone in town. Next I spent a year in Scotland. With an Australian mother. First thing I heard when I came back was : "lose the accent". Most educated people, obviously actors, are used to switch in GB, more so in Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Ireland for those who are already bilingual territories.

@@itsonlysound Ha ? You hear a Scott in Slow Horses ? Some say thay hear a Scott in everything Sean Connery. i do not. sure I'm used to deep accents=friendly. My au-pair dad spent years in Manchester, he switched to that to make it easier for me in the beginning.. When he plays on Norman graham, it's legitimate enough after a minute, but far from the worst. I'm older and heard "english" that made me think "Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore". I couldn't understand anything for sure from people I didn't trust. Bummer. Broadly speaking with broads would do🤣

I spent a whole evening at the pub once with ONE man I could not undertand, like at all and my gnomes (Kids) used to speak Gaelic to confuse me, that wasn't it. The others found it very funny that I understood them more and more just as they understood me more and not him. Spotting a scumbag has nothing to do with language. It's part of the great divide across the pond..not only divided by a similar language, but a lack of trust. For good reasons.

@@itsonlysound AAh. i may have caught it too late late/ backwards. Like you. He answers with a lightly srcubbed accent, but can revert to something deeper, while on screen it's all fake. Education and training. even Londonians like the brain of the affair but don't come by it naturally. Oldman too fakes his accent. Ironically, Nil by Mouth (written and directed by Oldman) shocked.

People always suggest this as if it’s some prize. It’s boring golden handcuffs that tie you down to a lumbering has-been franchise cutting you off from actual interesting acting opportunities for at least a decade. If I like a young male actor, the LAST thing I want for him is to be Bond!

Ha-ha from washed out MI6 to reject from MI5 , well, the opposite! That would be something. A bit too close from Johnny English, though. 🤣. everything is in order as it is. The last thing we want is Tom Cruise where European spies are concerned..😋🤣🤣He debauched Simon Pegg already. Enough is enough.

Though the same some time ago but as he rightly admitted here, his running and delivery is quite cartoonish
@auntisthenes275411 ай бұрын
@@vb8428 He's the slowest of the Slow Horses. Very brave, smart he isn't. It's a too nice character to deliver into MI5. In some seminary, perfect. But there is our goody-two-shoes, with too feet in the same shoe..Slow learner.. He's in keeping with making fun of spy games. He thinks he's in, but no more than "The Tall blond man with one black shoe" (early 70s, just a decoy randomly picked) or the young agent in A very secret service/ au service de la france by Arte, the Franco-German channel's series available on netflix. it's hilarious if you know a thing about history. we also have the average OSS 117, kinda french johnny english of the decolonisation operator.
@auntisthenes275410 ай бұрын
@@vb8428 cartoonish is good in European books. We have a whole lot of mocking our Secret services. It's a tradition. Remember that we were empires, once upon a time..but we also can make fun of ourselves, whereas Americans don't or badly copy us. . True Lies is a poor copy. If YOUR netflix allows the germano/french very secret services/ au service de la France, catch this excellent series. France isn'y shy about the horrors done in her name, all well-versed kids know..It's a blast ! It's humour, but true enough.
