I am 27 years old. Came to Canada 5 years ago, completed masters from a University here. Worked part-time in a bakery and paid all my fees and expenses on my own. Started applying for the jobs in my last semester and got a job right after the University. Its been 3 years now as an Engineer in one of largest Canadian Oil and Gas Company with all my Health care and other benefits provided. I Own a apartment, car and investment in stocks. After all my expenses and savings I send 1 lakh Rs every month to my parents. I am saying this because I want to let everyone know, excuses and blames won't take you anywhere. No one will come to your home to give a job, you need to explore and find on your own. Students come without exploring with random diplomas and courses which have no scope and skill and unfortunately they end up nowhere just working labor. Canada is one of the most beautiful and livable country in the world and has given me everything that I dreamed about. This was only possible because of my education, hard work and with a goal mindset.

What were these kids doing in India? It’s not like they have amazing jobs and leave their comfortable life. Everyone wants to live American dream but without any hardship! Life in India is also tough with little opportunities if you don’t compete and do well in school. Life abroad is not easy, in fact it never was but the main issue is people flaunting their wealth when they return to India while they do shitty jobs or labour work in foreign countries. Teach your kids to work hard no matter where they are and have realistic expectations.

All Indians are very hard working and many of them are successful in many areas. Nowadays the job market is very tough in North America which is ruining the life of the new students. No, sadly you're mistaken. I was getting a 10LPA in India but decided to come to Canada, and did my Masters with +90% in Computer Science for which I took a huge loan and now I'm not getting any job. I've applied to 2500+ positions and not even a single call. That bad is the situation. I agree with you @aks20002 , I work in a hospital as a resident doctor (started from scratch, moved to Canada 4 years ago). I think being an MBBS and scoring well on (many) exams that I had to take along with good communication skills and luck has landed me in a much better financial and lifestyle position. It breaks my heart to see most of the cleaning people, patient sitters and security and cab drivers are Indians (or desi). Nothing wrong with any of these jobs, it is just that from talking to them, I know that was not what they were hoping for. People often mistake me for a sitter or a cleaner because they assume that is what any young brown girl can be. But the silver lining is, there are a lot of opportunities and with persistence, hardworking people ( which most of us desis are) usually do end up living their dream.

What you said is true indeed. In India, people are ashamed of doing their own personal work- which is the base need in the west. However, the fact that the visa system is designed to create modern low-wage slave labour can not be denied. In stagnated, ageing economies like Canada and Western Europe- this visa system is compounded with very poor job market for outsiders. This does lead to terrible life for most Indian students- something that people don't see in photos and reels.
