Probably because careers in esports only recently got popular- as well as becoming a professional gamer is as difficult as becoming a professional footballer. You need to commit a lot of time and even then you’re not guaranteed a career as a professional gamer compared to a career in bricklaying.

Crazy how one minute people call it a waste of time and the second that investors realize there’s market potentially untapped it becomes a profession and “oh your a professional gamer” now 😂😂😂. Such is the way of all sports. The value is always determined by the demand. If enough people were fascinated by running in place that too would become a sport.
