Love this show and i watch it every year but what was they thinking by letting Vic Reeves sing two songs on the programme.He may be a good comedian but hes no singer,was embarrassing to watch him throw himself and the mike stand around the stage,by the expressions on the faces of the backing band i dont think they were too impressed either.A truly wonderful show but this did nothing for its credibility.

I saw Jim Moir (Vic Reeves) sing "Dizzy" but I (fortunately) missed the other song. Back in the days of Vic Reeves Big Night Out he would open the show with a song by someone else and then end it with "Mr Songwriter, write me a song" (with ad lib verses.) It was all tongue in cheek (part of building the persona of "Vic Reeves" thinking rather highly of himself.) But he was a passable singer back then, and the version of "Dizzy" he did back then wasn't bad. The one he did on Jool's Hootenany was awful.

They’ve just mixed two types of boogie together and improvised of that.

I think it's an original song. I searched youtube for do the boogie jools holland and found a video that jools uploaded in October. Looks like an album called pianola - jools holland - piano and friends. It's got some impressive names on it. Also, though I said it's "original", it strongly reminds me of the "boogie the beat" refrain from Rapper's delight.

i love the hootenanny but it was pretty damp 2021, apart from gregory porter and ruby turner, and as for vic reeves and lulu...no comment

Watching jowls Holland smashing a piano to bits with his lump hammer like hooves is not my idea of entertainment. This was the worst yet. Jools just crow bars the same acts into a padded out show that now has inane rubbish like this instrumental. The bbc clearly let him produce this stuff with his own production company. I bet he even puts the bands rider of champagne in the boot of his jag before the evening starts, the tight wad.
