Don’t understand the dislikes but each to there own guess. PP Arnold is a 60’s survivor, we’re lucky to have her around today and can still cut it.

The New Adventures Of P.P. Arnold".

I don’t know why people compare covers to Rod Stewart when Cat Stevens wrote and recorded it first. That’s not saying Rods isn’t worthy just that people should know he didn’t write it his is a cover itself even if a great one. For me no one sings like Cat did everyone else over sings it.
@timrowling5951

Cat Stevens wrote it and recorded an unreleased demo of it in 1965. He gave the song to PP Arnold and her version was the first to be released on record in May 1967 on the Immediate label. PP’s is usually considered to be the original and definitive version. Cat’s official recording of the song with guitarist Big Jim Sullivan, also a great version, was recorded in October 1967 and released in December 1967 on the album New Masters on the Deram label. Rod Stewart’s 1977 version was just a pile of crap.
