He’s always sounded really good but getting sober and quitting smoking has definitely helped, he’s sounds phenomenal these recent shows. It’s really great to see him so happy and healthy up there after all the struggles he’s had. This lineup’s chemistry is absolutely insane, doesn’t get any better than this, Josh/Troy/Mikey/dean quad has been performing now 16yrs and it really shows because they truly sound as tight as ever, pretty much flawless, Jon has now also been their drummer now a decade and he’s amazing, longest tenured drummer, every member is actually the longest tenured in the bands history for their role/instrument in QOTSA. Anyway I’m rambling now but this unit is next level together. Best live festival band on the planet currently and just one of the best live bands in the world in any setting

I love how Josh adapted this song to where he is now. Instead of trying to hit some of the high notes that he got in his youth, he finds ways to make the vocals more dynamic and soulful within his range. This is what lets a musician age gracefully: learning to accept technical limitations as an invitation to innovate.

I remember going to a "Eagles of Death Metal" concert many years ago and I think Joey Castillo was drumming for them at the time, and when they came back out for the encore, Jesse said "I want to bring out my good friend, Baby Duck (Josh Homme) for these next few songs". Josh came stumbling out on stage with a half-bottle of vodka still in his hand, and sat down behind the kit. He then proceeded to shred through the 3 or 4 songs they played for the encore like it was nothing. It was one of the coolest things ever to see. I knew that he played drums on their records, but I had forgotten about that before he came out on stage and I was thinking "WTF is he doing on the drums??". He is one talented mofo!

Among the loudest for me too, and super clear. Just fantastic. KISS back in the 90s, Baby Animals, My Bloody Valentine, and Ace Frehley solo were all up there as well for being loud. But the undisputed kings of loud was Motorhead back in 1991. My ears rang for three days after that gig. It was like being assaulted for two hours, my internal organs felt like they had moved. Like they had worked out where the sound pressure was high enough to actually hurt physically and were just a smidge below that. Ye gods it was EPIC.

Saw them again in 2000 on the "farewell" tour (if only it was), still pretty good but Peter was already gone and Ace was about to leave for the second (and final) time. Not quite the same. Ace still puts on a good solo gig, no airs and graces, just an honest rock and roll show played LOUD.

Saw them live in Toronto just a couple of days ago. Best live band I’ve ever seen, hands down.

Wishing I could still get hold and listen to all of this again. Sadly it dropped off BBC Sounds about a week ago. 😩 The sound quality of the whole gig was second to none.

It's such a crazy thought to know that I was introduced to not just this song, but this whole band through the first ever Guitar Hero. Never gonna forget just how blessed I was to hear this for the first time, the riffs, the groove, that bassline! It reminded me of a wicked rock song for Abes Oddysee (random comparison, but if you pay attention to the game soundtrack, the basslines are quite similar)

It’s the dynamics in the songs. Perfect for a festival. The loudest band I’ve ever seen at Glasgow Barrowland….and I’ve seen a few

I saw them live in the US in August. And now I can’t stop looking up every live performance video of theirs. ❤ one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. They’ve been on of my favorite bands for over 20 years.

That was quality, Josh's voice sounding amazing, but also the interplay and how the band play around with the arrangement of the songs. I'm not one of these people who utterly detests bands using backing tracks and triggers, but this shows the potential magic that can happen when you play completely live. Major kudos for an excellent performance

I love the jazzy Parisian solo, and the unison doubling. It is loose and relaxed and so precise. Paradoxically: awesome!

Jon Theodore has quite the CV. Imagine being fortunate enough to have played in two of the greatest live bands ever. QOTSA and Mars Volta, both absolutely killer live. Saw him with Puscifer too. Phenomenal drummer.

I wish these guys produced more if only even one live recorded album. With the right crowd that shit would easily compete with any of their standard releases
