Hundreds of residents in the eastern Libyan city of Derna have taken to the streets in protest more than a week after heavy floods killed thousands in the city.
The protesters criticised the leader of eastern Libya's parliament, Aguila Saleh, and local authorities they blamed for the floods that have killed nearly 4,000 people, according to revised UN figures.
In a joint statement, the protesters said they wanted speedy investigations into the disaster and legal action against the leaders responsible.

All the people of the city were killed in the collapse of the dam. Half of the city is Dahab. May God have mercy on them..The government of eastern Libya, led by Haftar, is the cause of tragedy, destruction, and the killing of innocents. It is a corrupt government that killed innocents. It must be dismissed by every Libyan, east and west.

Not one of these leaders of nations prepared anything in cases of disaster, near and far, far and wide. They’ve just became disgustingly rich, without having to prepare for anything, it won’t affect them, they’re not you, only the poor would be affected, and that’s anyone who’s not them. These leaders don’t care about the people of the countries they lead, they care what they can get from the nation they lead while in office, and just pass the problems to the next leader, and it became a way of governing, now that their is a catastrophic event, they’re out of touch, nothing put in place in case this or that happens, now they’re being called out on carpets by their citizens, all around the world, and they have no answers, but they can give a lot of lip service, to try and pacify the citizens until the can get out of their sight, and back to their nice uninterrupted lives. That’s why no one should rule over anyone, because if their were no one ruling, these people would have figured it out for themselves, and made sure they were prepared. It’s very tough when your government betrays it’s people for gain, and not gain for the nation, but independent wealth, solely self serving.

True, but these leaders did not come from Mars. They are from the people. There is an Arabic proverb that says: "Who pharaoh'ed you oh Pharaoh?" ...hinting to that his people did, to gain special treatment in return, over the rest. So until people care for the protection of every citizen's rights (and responsibilities), and not just themselves, family or tribe, and turn away from aspiring superiority over others, then this will just continue. This is a "Man in the Mirror" moment for everyone.

@@Azzawiya That’s the way it’s been all around the world. People will conform to the popular people, negating anything or one else to get or be among them, or have what they have. That is the Spell put on the people of the Earth, (without critical thinking skills, the Evil has become the pied piper of the human race) this is why they refuse to teach their history, which is a must to know, when repenting your sins to Our Source, and Evil knows this, this is why he keeps them blissfully ignorant. Capitalism, is the catalyst of dysfunction, and is with held from citizens on different levels to cause jealousy envy and strife, and Evil exposes means and ways to achieve greatness, if you’re willing, and the destructive ways you have to go about it. This was why Our Source enforced the fact that we are family, and told us, don’t follow the ways of the gentile. Three Brothers Ham (Black like the raven) (Shem Black and comely) and Japheth (White), populated the Earth, and Judgement comes on how you treated your family while you were here. These are the words from Our Source.

This is a tinderbox situation. Western Libya is more liberal than Eastern Libya but has ended up under the control of the GNA, which is more Islamist and allied to Erdogan. Eastern Libya is more religiously conservative than the West but has ended up under the control of the LNA, which is more secular and allied to Putin. Derna is by far the most religiously conservative city in Libya and there was a lot of support for ISIS there. But it has generally avoided rising up against the LNA while people in Tripoli have generally avoided uprisings against the GNA. Libya still looks somewhat like a developed country because less of its infrastructure had been destroyed. Fighting was more on the frontline between these two main groups rather than in the cities between hundreds of competing factions as we saw in Aleppo (there’s been some of that too though). But outrage at Khalifa Haftar’s secular government over this flood in the most religious city in Libya could change that and put this uneasy relative truce to an end. Many in the media seem and the West seem to be relishing this outcome and even seem to be trying to incite this outrage but we really shouldn’t be. Breaking this truce would not be good for the people of Libya, though there should be a demand for change in infrastructure investment and management.

Can you imagine 30,000 people dead because of two old neglected dams, and stupid authority that didn't prepared very well of this storm and it's consequences . this authority didn't make any evacuation which many countries do when a heavy storm are coming instead this military authority forced curfew in the city . can you imagine that .

I don't understand how the living survive? It looks like there's nothing left. From here its strange. Even in tragedy women have to worry about covering hair. Its time to just survive. Not worry about cloth. I think??? Is it?
