B We aren’t talking about the impregnation process, the farmer is referring to the state the cow is in before insemination can begin. If she’s in poor health that process can’t happen. What you’re all forgetting is, they’re saving bulls from repeatedly being born & slaughtered - because farmers don’t have the money to raise bullocks that ‘serve no purpose’. As much as you may disagree with the entire process, it’s going to happen no matter how much you kick, scream, & throw your dummy out of the pram. Milking cows has been around since the beginning of time. If you don’t want to drink milk, don’t like or agree in the process, that’s absolutely fine, simply don’t eat anything dairy related.

Meshari 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve seen the videos & was absolutely horrified. I grew up on a farm, farmers know other farmers, thus I ended up visiting lots of farms growing up. I can’t stress enough how much the farmers (including my father & the family he worked for) genuinely cared for their livestock, & would spend all night awake if necessary with a cow having a difficult labour / delivery (as an example). And then you read bloody comments saying ‘farmers don’t care about the animals!!’ - makes my blood boil. None of these vegans have truly visited farms, only the few shitty industrial sized ones that still mass produce to make a point. Go visit the real farms around the country & THEN pass comment! Lawwwd! So frustrating!

My next door neighbors had a dairy cow. Unlike the majority of milk producers they did not take the calf away from his mother in the first 24 hours. So although I knew he would eventually be slaughtered I felt their life was much better than the vast majority of dairy cows and calves, until the day they separated them so he “wouldn’t drink too much of her milk” that night the whole neighborhood heard his mother crying, it broke my heart. Hearing that gentle creature cry almost all night will haunt me forever. Also this brief film does not mention the literally millions of wild animals that at least in the USA are killed to support the cattle industry.

She considers it insulting hyperbole, yet she does, in fact, tie up cows and force them to become pregnant over and over and over again, she does take claves away from their mothers 24 hours after birth to the distress of the mother cows, and she does send all of the male calves and spent dairy cows to a slaughterhouse. What is her response to the argument of Veganism, that we should simply leave these animals alone...? that Vegans said hyperbolic things to her. 🙄 Not an argument.

They don’t need to be bred or particularly helped to live by us. We’re their biggest predators, despite not actually needing to eat them to survive. They just need us to leave them alone. What an absurd woman evidently trying to justify her immoral job choice. But, I guess that’s just the sort of things a meat eater wants to hear to reassure them, right? Because it managed to make her forget all about her conscience trying to break through when she saw those poor pigs. And as for “personal choice?”. No. It stops being a personal choice when it harms others. Those pigs and cows have had their ‘personal choice’ to live robbed from them. It’s a false equation to compare eating meat to smoking or drinking alcohol or taking drugs or promiscuous (consensual) sex. You can make a personal choice to do or not do most things in life. But, it crosses a line when it harms others. Imagine how outraged you’d be if somebody was, say, breeding kids, raping them, then eating them, and justifying it by saying that it was their “personal choice” and the kids wouldn’t even be alive if not for them. Like the kids were merely possessions who couldn’t think, love, or feel pain. And if the police weren’t doing anything to stop it, you can bet there’d be protests over it. Just because the innocent, defenceless, speechless animal in the case of eating meat happens to be not human, it makes no difference.

@Jujubes666

Harry Dibbs animals are sentient creatures, those who say the opposite say so to justify their so called « right » to eat meat. People want to say such things like what you said just to not feel as bad or to not feel the guilt of eating a intelligent sentient being. Now sure, animals are not as smart as people, but does that mean they should be tortured to death, controlled by humans unable to live a free life, being used and abused? Does that mean they aren’t worthy of respect? Just because they don’t have our capacities doesnt mean they cant feel pain. Most organisms with a nervous system feel pain. And have u never heard of stories of once tortured and abused dogs who are said to be depressed? Just cause animals aren’t like us doesn’t mean they’re not similar to us and doesn’t mean they’re less worthy of living a free happy life.
@thriftyfreebies
@thriftyfreebies 5 жыл бұрын
Harry Dibbs They _are_ sentient. And they are about as intelligent as human toddlers are. Are you suggesting that babies, toddlers, and older adults with mental impairments are fair game, then? Since when was it okay to kill just because of a lack of intelligence? As far as I knew, we lived in a civilised society that protects those less capable of protecting themselves. Be careful what you wish for in that regard, or some people _might_ exercise their ‘personal choice’ to take away yours.

Comparing humans to animals blows my mind, a cow / pig / sheep / chicken is not even in the same league as a human baby, & the fact your mind even tries to compare the two or makes some warped analogy out of it really does speak volumes. As for farmers ‘not caring’ about the animals they have on their farm, that’s the biggest crock of crap I’ve ever read in my life, & something you’re plucking from thin air from media led / sensationalism driven videos you’ve all watched repeatedly & put on ‘share’ on social media. You’re so alienated to what real farming is like because you’ve watched the shitty, poorly run back street crappy farms, you’re just detached from the reality of it all. By all means have your opinion on how animals have feelings, & don’t eat meat if it goes against your beliefs, but do us a favour.. don’t even try to pretend you know a jot about what the real world of farming is like outside of your imagination, & don’t compare a human life to a farm yard animals!

@@wh0586 I get your point, but you're really interpreting the studies wrong. Look, we indeed need those vitamins, and they're found in meat as well as plants. But to eat meat that is available at the store at the moment, you won't see those benefits. Yes, if you would farm those animals yourself, it would all be fine. But if you know how the animals you eat are raised and what they are fed, you won't eat that much anymore. All the antibiotics, diseases and stress induce the making of hormones that get into the body of the animal. We then eat that mess of hormones we call meat. Processed meat is on the schedule 1 as being carcinogenic. If eating vegetarian or vegan would be detremental, I would know, I don't eat meat, for 7 years now, I don't have or have had any of the symptoms you are describing. I'm also an athlete by the way(Judo), if I would see negative results from the diet, I would've stopped. There’s some sensible comments being made in this documentary, more so at the end after the slaughtering of the cow. It’s true that society in general has become so detached from their food. It seems it’s quantity over quality these days. I’m not a vegan, I never could be. I do eat more vegetarian based foods these days than ever before, & save my money to buy better quality meat where I can. I grew up on a farm so I’m not ignorant to how the entire process with animals works. It’d be interesting to see if everyone had to see an animal killed, what their reaction & feelings would be & if they’d change anything in their lifestyle going forward. I think the vegan extremists just have too much time on their hands.. some of the crap they do is absolutely insane.

Actually, worm cast is safer to work with and better for your health, and if the soil is good enough, worms will be there soon enough because it's natural lol. There are many ways to garden for fruit and veg; it's just the way it's mass produced that lead to people finding ways to grow faster or larger crops by adding things that aren't necessarily needed. They're are many places that will naturally grow produce even without the help of gardeners and/or farmers, just not always the amount or speed wanted.

But most animals eat other animals, you get fish that eat other fish, foxes that eat rodents or chickens, hedgehogs that eat slugs. Is it not nature in some way for one animal to eat another? Granted I couldn’t kill a chicken, cut it up and it eat it myself in a regular circumstance but to be honest if I was watching my kids starve and a chicken just happened to walk by, I’d be on it and it’d feed my kids for a couple of days. How many vegans would starve themselves death rather than eat a bit of meat? We are lucky enough to have a choice, some families have no choice. Fruit and veg can be very expensive, frozen meat from stores like Iceland is a lot cheaper and fills you for a lot longer. There are so many personal variables, you can’t blanket everybody together and say we should all be vegan. Ultimately it is choice. You can CHOOSE a vegan, vegetarian or meat eating life style.

People promoting veganism look for the worst examples, people advocating meat farming look for the best examples. both exist. For me I think the important question is, where is the food on my table coming from, and can I tolerate that? I know the farm my meat comes from, I've been there, seen it, I know where it goes to, and I can live with it. It's lot closer to the first couple of minutes here. For plenty, that's still too much to handle - and that's fine, to be respected. Everyone has their tolerance level. Another question is, does showing the worst (or best) examples help, and is it needed? If we showed the real typical farming procedure for actual products on the shelves, instead of holding up illegal examples all the time, or fluffy free range lambing - actual real life examples could be enough to appeal to the central masses and improve the situation.

The slaughterhouse she went to is really highly removed from normal slaughterhouses, its a really really small slaughterhouse, and they go to great lengths to not stress the animals, they give them time. Its not like a factory slaughtered animal. I saw Joey Carbstrong go to this slaughterhouse. If she was going to do a fair report she should have gone to a factory slaughterhouse. Where they are processed much more quickly, so many units an hours. Go and watch pigs being gassed in Manchester, because that is more the norm. Look at industrial farming! Wheres the footage of the calves being taken away. Cows live to 25 years old, and the dairy woman sad some cows have 6, some 10, maiden calves are 2 so that makes them 8 or 12 when they are KILLED. However according to the industries own data, most heffers are 6 1/2 when killed. Your showing the flowery side, not the TRUTH!
