@LouisGedo
@LouisGedo 5 жыл бұрын
@linus eisele I can get D3 from numerous sources, none of them requiring me to eat animal products. I can get D3 from time spent in the sun and also through lichen-based supplementation. Mushrooms also contain D3 as do many fortified foods suh as almond milk. The same is true of any and all necessary nutrients for humans.....there's NEVER a need for me to consume animal products to get any of those nutrients. A very long standing challenge to carnists which has never once been answered validly by carnists is: Name a necessary nutrient for humans that can ONLY be obtained by killing animals. Trust me, I won't be holding my breath because the answer is necessarily an empty set since every necessary nutrient for humans can be obtained from non animal sources.

@andreaanonymous5474
@andreaanonymous5474 8 ай бұрын
@@SG-xy6hf By all means then, let's all do what prehistoric man did, since you can justify anything they did with your argument. They raped and murdered regularly. Never bathed etc. Humans evolved and became better with time. What was considered normal and justified then doesn't make a logical or reasonable argument now. You could use your argument to justify all the immoral things they did. We no longer need to eat meat to survive. Humans only had to eat meat when we moved out of the tropical climates. Torturing sentient animals for something we don't need and are healthier without is barbaric and is animal abuse. We preach, as you called it, because there's a victim in this situation that is unable to speak for themselves. Humans are not carnivores or omnivores. If you were either, you would enjoy the taste of raw meat, the blood, the guts, all of it. Humans find it repulsive for a reason. We can only eat meat if it's seasoned, cooked etc.. You weren't born with a frying pan in your hand. You also weren't born with a knife in your hand or the teeth to kill and rip open an animal for dinner. You were born however, with two hands that can easily pick fruit from a tree and the right teeth to easily eat it. Humans are frugivores. Carnivores have short digestive tracts for a reason. The dead, rotting, putrefying flesh needs to move out of the body quickly. Otherwise, it sits there and rots in your intestines and you end up with unhealthy bacteria, parasites and a whole host of other problems. Meat being one of the largest causes of colon cancer. Humans have long winding digestive tracts to slowly assimilate nutrients from plants. Humans also don't have the same stomach acid to break down animal flesh the way carnivores do. Meat causes a huge number of problems within the human body. Meat is also too acidic and is extremely inflammatory. Because the body has a calcium buffering system, your body will literally leach the calcium right out of your bones and connective tissue to rebalance itself. This is why as you get older, people shrink, get saggy, wrinkled etc. Anyway, believe what you want. You have the right to eat anything that you want as long as you aren't causing a living, sentient being to be tortured, raped and then murdered for your food choices. This isn't caveman times anymore, even though some humans still haven't matured or evolved enough to realize that it isn't silly to respect all life.

Tim Bird not strictly true. Predators eat other animals out of necessity. We did once as environmental factors meant we had to adapt, and some people still need to, such as Inuit peoples, but no westerner needs to at all. We can get all of our nutritional needs from plants, apart from b12, and not even animals get much of that without dietary supplements nowadays. When the choice is between some damage to your body from the animal products or DEATH, obviously some damage is preferred to death, BUT again, ONLY in SURVIVAL SITUATIONS!! There's a VERY big difference. You are also adapted to utilize CAFFEINE as a source of energy BUT you are NOT meant to use it as a source of nourishment. "they cannot emit more carbon than they eat" that is some of the most idiotic statements Ive heard in a while. No shit. Carbon that they eat is in solid form within plants, while what they emit is CO2 and CH4 (methane), and they are greenhouse gasses. Solid carbon is not an issue. and its even a fallacy to just look at the "carbon", because a methane molecule and a CO2 molecule BOTH contain one carbon, but CH4 is a 20-80 times stronger greenhouse gas (!) (generally accepted estimate is 28-36), and it is emitted by livestock farming (in flatulence and feces) in massive amounts This man doesnt seem to comprehend that what is meant by carbon is not elemental carbon, but rather CO2, CH4. EDIT: typo, and more elaborated

It's the fox! Yes also remember that carbon dioxide has a atmospheric life span of 100 years at a warming potential of 1 and Methane has a lifespan of 12 years and has a warming potential of 25 over a 100 year period it is actually 3 times worse than co2 still not good but good to get your facts :)
@maurice7618

He is actually (partially) right on this one. If the grass wouldn't be eaten by cows, it would at some point decay, releasing the same amount of carbon. The climate issue with animal farming is not the carbon that the animals "produce" but the increased land-use that comes from it. Without animal farming we would need far less agricultural space and have forests instead of grassland, capturing more carbon in solid form. The butcher conveniently leaves this part out. You are right about the methane though.
@lil_weasel219
@lil_weasel219 4 жыл бұрын
@@maurice7618 dude, you are so so massively wrong. 1. decaying grass emits CO2 into the atmosphere yes. But when a cow eats it, it is *turned into methane (CH4), which is many many times stronger a greenhouse gas than CO2* Instead what is also the case is that SOME living plants release *methane*. These plants are industrial fertilizer plants used in agriculture www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/06/190606183254.htm 2. most pasture grasses are perennial plants (tho this is irrelevant to begin w) Another one is nitrous oxide. *Nitrous oxide is a gas that is a 300 x stronger greenhouse gas than CO2, and it's primary source is again agricultural soil.*

Belinda White i see what your saying . Sorry its a old vegan joke . It means send him the part of the animal that these meat eating bastards respect the most instead of the living being . Its funny how we allow these meat eating mass butchering people to live . Vegans should come together as a group and slaughter meat eaters and see how they like it . Fook em with frozen cucumbers . Send in the flange diver brigade and fuel em with organic nuts and sugar . Let the vegan sociopaths and looneys loose on em . Let them feel what we go through every day to fit in and justify our rebellious self deluded. hungry. malnourished. serial masterbating selves .they think its easy making cheese out of vegan products and having to pretend its ok and oh no to bad this one jane . Jane is a fictional lesbo feminist carrot munching . Serial finger blaster. but as vegans we all know a Jane right . Or maybe your the jane but either way i think meat eaters and vegans are scum . As a fruitarian i feel justified in saying that as we only eat what falls from the tree . People like you who support crop growing which kills billions of creatures each year make me sick . You think you justified complaining about slaughter houses while you eat products that directly participate to worse things . I used to be a meat eater . Then i turned to being a vegetarian . Then a vegan . And now iv progressed to a place that perhaps you might reach . But for now your a killer just like the meat eaters and deep down despite my somewhat strange humor and crazy choice of words you know im right . So actually think about it for a moment . Look past your ego or my choice of words and ask yourself how many beings died for your humus or leafy greens . Sorry for the shock tactics but sometimes if you want someone to listen you have to drop kick em in the bacon flaps

We have enough plant based food to feed 10 billion people, animals suffer for the dairy industry. Forced pregnancy year after year, baby calves stolen from their mother when they are born. Chickens bred to lay 10 times more eggs than they are meant to, they get a lot bigger than they are supposed to be, and it's painful for them. Most of the animals wont ever see sunlight throughout their entire life. Even if they do, the process in the slaughterhouse is brutal. More than 90%of the pigs and chickens in the entire world go in gas chambers before they are slaughtered. It takes 15-60 seconds and they go through brutal pain where they feel like they are burning inside. These animals, cows, pigs, chickens have NO ROOM to move for their entire life. People think most of the farm animals walk freely, this is absolutely not true. There is such a huge demand for dairy, which makes it impossible. Pigs also gets electrocuted in many slaughterhouses, some places on their testicles in order for them to move faster towards gas chambers and such. In many cases in the slaughterhouses these animals are conscious when they are being slaughtered. Male chicks are useless and they are thrown in a blender alive in every slaughterhouse. And of course there is a lot more to mention about their brutal life they have to endure, and also what happens in these slaughterhouses... The argument I see in the comment: "it's called the food chain" "we cant survive without meat" are stupid arguments. Just because we can consume meat, doesn't mean we have too. It's proven that we live healthier on a plant based diet. We can get everything we consume from dairy products in a plant based diet. Meat has saturated fat and cholesterol, which leads to heart attacks etc, whereas plants do not. And don't come with the argument "we need some cholesterol, just not too much of it" The cholesterol we produce in our bodies is all we need. It's also better for the environment. In fact eating a vegan diet is the single biggest way to reduce your environmental impact on earth. The reasons most people won't go vegan is always the same: 1. People are afraid of change (think it will be awful to live on a plant based diet) however, the taste buds change very fast. And you can still eat pizza, hamburger, ice cream, cookies etc, on a plant based diet. 2. People convince themselves that most of the farm animals live a good life (perhaps by buying organic/free-range, buying from local farmer, grass-fed) however, it doesn't change the fact that these animals that live "freely" go through the exact same process in the slaughterhouses, transportation, etc. Even if you consume meat from an animal you have killed yourself (hunting) for example, there is no justification to kill an innocent animal, when there is no need to do it.. 3. Most people don't realise the brutality behind the dairy industry. Advertisement, picture on the milk, commercials, all give us the illusion, and the lie that these animals live a good life. We are not shown the truth, however we can find good documentaries. Example: Earthlings, Cowspiracy @t + NETFLIX, Forks Over Knives @t + NETFLIX, What the Health @t + NETFLIX, Dominion @t 4. People don't think it's worth it to stop eating meat, because in their mindset it won't help. (We are paying for the torture the animals endure, because we are the consumers demanding it. The increase in vegans has gone up rapidly these past years, and the selections for vegan foods has become a lot better. Which really do help the animals (less demand, less suffering) 5. People say: "it's part of our culture" However, culture doesn't tell us that something is morally right. Remember, slavery was also part of our culture, and lots of other awful stuff. Dog torture in Guangxi, China for the Yulin festival is a part of their culture, and they justify boiling dogs, skinning them and burning them alive, because it's part of their culture. (which makes it a terrible argument/reasoning) 6. People say: "We have been eating meat for thousands of years, we are meant to eat meat" We may have eaten meat for thousands of years, but the reason was for survival. We do not eat meat for survival in most places in the world, just for our taste pleasure. Remember, there are many places in the world were people have lived, and do live only on plant based diets. These people have the longest life span in the world. Example: Ikaria in Greece, Okinawa in Japan, Nicoya in Costa Rica, Loma Linda in California etc. A lot of these people reach over 100 years old. 7. People say: "We can't stop eating meat, because then the animals won't survive either way" First of all, these animals have been bred by us so they can't survive. If everyone went vegan it would be a gradual process. We would through this time stop with forced pregnancy. Find animals sanctuaries, and don't let them mate. Eventually let them die out, because these animals are not meant to be the way they are. 8. People say: "Plant based food is lacking in vitamins and minerals, B-12" Foods often touted to be rich in vitamin B-12 include unwashed organic produce, mushrooms grown in B-12 rich soils, nori, spirulina, chlorella. For vitamins: Eat nuts and seeds daily, especially those rich in omega-3 fat. Eat calcium-rich foods daily, such as calcium-fortified products and calcium-set tofu. 9. People say: "Eating plant based food is too expensive" Most products in a vegan diet is in fact VERY cheap. Rice, Pasta, Beans, Potatoes, vegetables, fruits etc. 10. People say: "There is not enough" Each year an estimated 41 million tons of plant protein is fed to U.S. livestock to produce an estimated 7 million tons of animal protein for human consumption. About 26 million tons of the livestock feed comes from grains, and 15 million tons from forage. The plants we feed farm animals is 7 times the amount of meat and dairy products we consume from animals. If the world went vegan instead, emissions declines would be around 70%. “When looking at what would be in line with avoiding dangerous levels of climate change, we found that you could only stabilise the ratio of food-related emissions to all emissions if everyone adopted a plant-based diet" So, my conclusion: "Eating meat is NOT NECCESARRY, the killing and torture of animals is therefore morally wrong and not justified. The MAIN REASON people won't go vegan is simply because they love the taste, valuing their taste buds over the torture and suffering of animals. Most people won't admit this, because the people and the society we live in tell us, and convince us that eating meat is the right thing to do. We are brought up eating it, brainwashed into believing that we actually need it, and that it is a necessity. 🌱 GO VEGAN! 🌱🌱

Cows graze grass in a way that keeps it short so that it is constantly growing at its optimum rate sucking in huge amounts of co2 way more than what a patch of trees sucks in. If we farm cows in a way that respects how they originally lived, they would cover vasts amount of land and keep lots of grass short . So we can do this by using frequent field rotations.
