I saw them at my friend's basement, an impromptu off the cuff show if there ever was one. If memory serves me right, they were in between shows and Eric's/Ian's/Damon's (can't remember) girlfriend set it up. My buddy's place was this continuous hangout/safehaven where anything could happen, some times incredible, sometimes not. He didn't even have a PA so everything went through Eric's bass amp. They still sounded amazing. Needless to say it was a surreal experience. Eric and Ian were super laid back, so cool to me and others that were there. Damon was salty, lol. However, true to form, very confident, a total badass. I was 24/25 at the time, a complete dipshit, on a quest to discover the underground music, haha. Internet was in it's infancy, still pretty much word of mouth and crate digging. At this point, it was as if they were harnessing Steve Reich's Music for 18 musicians in power trio rock form. I'll be 50 in December. Fuck I feel old, lol.

The guitarist uses two Akais here. And the bassist has a Headrush and/or a Boss DD-2, which is what he probably uses to make the 'stuttering' effect on The Peter Criss Jazz.

check out older digital delays with a "hold" mode. like a primitive loop pedal where the loop length is dependent on how long you hold the pedal down. He's striking the strings really hard and then holding down the pedal for a short amount of time. The "precise" nature of the effect has to do with his ability to match timing values to tempo. takes a bit of practice!

@@BrunoOfCanadayes, he’s playing off of the loop by playing the notes an eighth note ahead of what’s being looped, technique-wise he utilizes a very strange hybrid pick as well as note placements on his guitar being used to compliment the open strings. overall just a very strange and unique playing style

@@syvlcommuter OHHHH You're right. I've been trying to nail down the parts of this album for a long while now and I've never encountered that. I know that trick of playing things slightly ahead of each other is a STAPLE of Ian's playing (during this era at least), but this is more of like an audio illusion. It's just so well done, wow.
