Well done! Great review. Just ordered a few CyberQ's for me and my mates. Can't wait to give it a run.

It’s a good idea to either hook the fan up immediately to the CyberQ or do not put the fan “in place” until you are ready to power it up with the CyberQ. Reason: the fan will overheat and melt if it is on the cooker, but not able to blow air.

Thanks for this video. I was really debating between a few different devices and this one clinched it for me. Grabbing my cyberq and gonna make this July 4th a great one!

Hi Steve. I noticed you used a Big Joe in this video, but I thought you were a Grill Dome guy. Do you still use your Grill Dome? Was there a reason for getting the Big Joe? Also, I'm toying with the idea of trying one of these CyberQ's out just so that I can watch and control my temps while out and about. Great video review.

This product is cool but when ur food or pit set temp is reached the alarm sounds on the device itself and not ur remote device (phone, tablet, PC) hope they fix this flaw one day.

+lildapp76 This is because web browsers do not generally have built-in sound. There are several third-party apps that add sound effects and other features IF you need them.

This is no automatic temp control, because if the temp is to hi we need close de dumpper on fan to not return the smoke and burn the fan and we need control the up griller dumper to control the temperture. have i seen The Alpha 1 brasilian griller is totally automatic and fast.
@krehbein
@krehbein 7 жыл бұрын
So this automates the temp, but how often do you add wood chunks for smoke? In terms of price $300+ seems steep. That's 1/3 the price of my KJ.!

Did you ever try the port forwarding option for your CyberQ?

Great review Steve, what happened to your other Kamado cooker (grill dome)? Also would you say that the smaller fan would work on a kamado with its in slating properties.

+Ryan T The fan that I demo'd in this video is the Pit Viper, which is the medium size fan. When you say a "smaller" fan, I'm assuming you're referring to the one that's built into the PartQ...but I've never tested that unit out to see how well it works with large kamados. Here's some more info: bbqguru.com/FAQ?page=FAQ-What-fan-size-should-I-get

I like tech in its place but not this way. For one, it takes relatively little practice to learn your rig and get it and keep it cruising at temps. I have seen they have one for the WK and I can easily keep temps without much work at all and it's not becasue I'm special. It just takes a bit of practice. The biggest thing to consider is how much fuel to start with and what method of lighting the fuel. I'm not knocking BBQ tech but it is a novelty rather than a necessity. Like an automatic air freshener sprayer. It cost more and can be done easily without.

+Jay Smooth If I didn't know how to handle my cookers manually first, then maybe I'd agree w/ you here....but the convenience is worth it IMO (especially being able to control when away from the home if time becomes an issue). Lots of people like to hate on BBQ tech (typically purists) as if it somehow negates their cooking skills...but I know I can handle my cookers manually if I wanted to...so why in the heck not take advantage of tech that makes the job easier if it's available? It's not being lazy....it just guarantees the outcome you're looking for w/o having to babysit your cook. But maybe we just gotta agree to disagree...
@MrDaryboy
@MrDaryboy 8 жыл бұрын
StokedOnSmoke I can agree with that actually. I didn't mean it to sound purist. When we add leaving the cook for errands into the equation I think that makes since but I still think it is generally unnecessary. I think newbies will look at this as a be all end all and they still won't know how to use it correctly if they don't understand how it's done in the first place. I agree that it is handy for this busy world if said cook knows whats up to begin with. I don't think it's beneficial or necessary at all, it's slightly handy at best.

+Jay Smooth OK, the way you put it that time I'm good with. Well said and I 100% agree w/ you. Though...I'm a HUGE tech fan (I'm an I.T. guy for my 8-5....) so if you have the $$$, I'm still going to highly recommend this and would argue it's more than just "slightly" handy...lol. It's the best controller on the market IMO and is pretty cool!
@MrDaryboy
@MrDaryboy 8 жыл бұрын
StokedOnSmoke I respect that. Man I want to be clear. I'm not bitching about tech. I look at all this from every perspective. I have no doubt it's handy for situations. Love your cooks by the way. Are you still using your pit barrel?
@StokedOnSmoke
@StokedOnSmoke 8 жыл бұрын
+Jay Smooth Yeah man, still def cook on the PBC...just not as much as my kamado or pellet grills. Love it though and I typically recommend it to people looking for a quality smoker at a lower price point.

Does it have an alarm? Will my phone notify me when the meat has reached the desired temp?
@StokedOnSmoke

The unit itself does...but since you use a browser on your mobile device (versus an app), there is no audible alarm.

Steve... Will the adapter that I have on my WSM for my DX2 accommodate the CyberQ fan, or would I have to remove the old adapter and switch out to the one that comes with the CyberQ?
@StokedOnSmoke
@StokedOnSmoke 8 жыл бұрын
+sdivecliff well if you already have a fan...then you'd only be buying the CyberQ itself w/o the fan...so you're all set!
