1000 add another 0, and the story sounds a bit more believable.... It would still smell fishy, just not as bad ! Now, if it was a family deal, then that's possible 😉 I bought a 1966 Chevelle SS for 500 dollars back in 1982... of course, there wasn't an Engine, Trans or rear end end gears 😁

This GTS reminds me of my aunt who worked at the Chrysler Engineering center in Highland Park Michigan back in the 60s. She bought a maroon loaded '68 Dart GTS hardtop at the executive lease turn in lot (Lynch Road) in early '69. It was a 383-335 hp HiPo w/automatic & had only 2k miles. She ran the numbers & it was assigned to the test facility in Chelsea Michigan & was a "mule". The drivetrain was tested for an option for the Roadrunners & Super Bee B-bodies. Auntie was a widow & would stop by on Saturday mornings to have the Dart washed along with our family cars. We told her to dry off the Dart we'd have to drive it around the block before toweling it & of course my brother & I would take the scenic route. Great, fun car & memories.

@@hypeis4suckers Being raised on the Southwest side of Detroit & in a large family of aunts & uncles where almost everyone worked in the auto industry was a blessing for this gearhead. Most of them had some sweet rides. My aunt was something else. Her trade-in for the Dart was a '63 Powder blue Dodge 330 B-body with a 383 4-bbl w/push button torque flite that weighed a little over 3,000 lbs which gave Mopars a huge advantage. It would flat out fly. She had a need for speed.

There are several great points to this car. 1. It has a V8. 2. Its a 68 Dart. 3. Its a GT. 4. Its a rag top. 5. It has a 4 speed. 6. Looks to be solid. 7. It ran with little work. 8. It was at a REALLY LOW PRICE. 9. It has keys. 10. It appears to be fairly complete. 11. It sounds great.

Man I love that car! It brings back so many fun memories when I was a teenager. I had a 67 Dart. Even though mine was a 4 door with a 170 slant six and a 3 on the tree. When your 16 in 1969 and working in a gas station life was a ball. Of course I had to hop it up a little. With an Offy 4 bbl manifold, a Holley 550, Vipar headers, changed out the 3 on the tree with a Hurst 3 by the knee. And a reverb gadget wired up to the radio. Remember I was 16! Chrome wheels with baby moons. I remember doing a torsion bar lift to give it that gasser look and cruising Colorado Blvd. on New Years Eve. Those were some fun times!

Thanks. 69 Dart Swingers are way cool. Your car sounds great. I like the color combo and rubber floor mats. My family had a 1969 Dart Swinger 340. It was a bench seat, four speed car. Brother owned a 68 Gt with 340 with Mallory dual point ordered from factory and 4 speed with bench seat and 410 gears. Never seen a car pull like that one did. Wish he still owned it. 🙄

Very lucky man. I worked for Chrysler Transmission. ❤ The Dodge Dart

Thanks. I too like the Darts. What years did you work for Chrysler Transmission? The fella who owned this car sold a 1967 New Yorker to a guy named, Woody, in Detroit. Woody worked on a Chrysler assembly line from around 66-71. Eric really enjoyed listening to Woody's tales from the Chrysler assembly line. I hope you have a nice day.

@@burnoutandbreakstuff thank you so much for your reply I can only dream about riding around in a beautiful car like that. I think the real magic of older cars lies in the fact that they were designed by human beings and built by human beings instead of designed by computers and built by robots.
