If they can get to a consistently top 25 school, anything can happen. Look at Cincinnati, they made the college football playoffs a few years ago. In 2007 BC would’ve made the CFB playoffs in the new format it is this year.

If they win out imagine they will be a top two team in the ACC and if they win that surely would be in bowl championship under new format. A slight chance they win the rest of regular season games but my guess would be facing Miami in the finals and that would be an upset. Top two teams in ACC make the final no division.

I'm happy for Bill O'Brien. He seems to have already turned the BC team around and back into a relevant football team. As a PSU fan, when the team was hit with the "death penalty," after the horrible Sandusky child abuse scandal in 2011, he came in and lead that team to a 8-4 record, when many people thought it was an impossible feat considering the circumstances. Now, BC isnt dealing with a situation like that of PSU, but BC sure seemed down and out as a football team and O'Brein comes right in there and seems to have righted the ship. I hope he has continued success with BC.

You're exactly right. MSU is not nearly the same level of team that beat Michigan 3 or 4 years ago. This game was close only because it was played in tough conditions which can really level the playing field. The storming of the field was beyond embarassing.

Those confused about storming the field over an unranked MSU team don’t understand the significance of this particular game and history at Boston College. This was the red bandana game in honor of a hero so winning this game had particular significance not just the opponent. It was also a rare sellout. There is a buzz around BC football now that hasn’t existed for years. It might not be this year but fans see BC as doing something really special under Bill O’Brien and we’re excited.

Recent BC grad here. The Red Bandana game is special to us for sure, but it alone does not justify storming the field. We were touchdown favorites this game and didn't even cover. The 4th quarter was great, but this wasn't exactly a Hail Mary type of situation. Storming the field should be reserved for upset wins or wins against solid opponents, particularly those that end in dramatic fashion. This game had none of those 3 elements.

I was at the game and it was frustrating watching MSU receivers run down the field completely uncovered. Fortunately your quarterback’s deep throwing accuracy is a 35 rating. I can recall at least a half dozen times where an MSU receiver was running free 35 yards up field with no BC defensive back within 15 yards; the MSU quarterback was just so inaccurate.

I don’t understand, wasn’t Boston college the favorite going into the game - why was the field stormed after winning a game they were favored to win after a really really terrible play by the Michigan state quarterback where he just randomly chucked it up into the air. This wasn’t a rivalry game and the emotions weren’t running high for any apparent reason. Boston College just put together a good drive and won the game, and Michigan state’s quarterback blew their chances with his 3rd interception. Then after the squandering by the Michigan state quarterback, the Boston college team rightfully took a knee to win the game. That’s nice, however, what is the field being stormed. I don’t understand at all. It was good to win, but it seems like we are starting to storm the field a little too quickly. It was a quiet ending to the game, Not a rivalry, Didn’t end on an insane play, And wasn’t a big upset, I see zero reason for the field storming. Good win for Boston college.

Fair enough, and that's a worthwhile thing and tradition. I equate that to winning homecoming though - a big game for the fanbase each year that they put on and hope to honor legacies from their school. They schedule a seemingly random team, and if they win, they put on a nice showing for the special game and the fans that came. For Boston College, it's probably more significant than homecoming at this point. Worth storming the field, though? I'm not sure, it's up for discussion. At the end of the day, it's okay either way, it's just a bit of fun for the fans. However, I'm still a little skeptical of how quickly people seem to be rushing the field, after Tennessee did it in 2022. Luckily, there's more important things in life than being concerned about over-eager field storming, so I'll drop this as not a hill to die on.
