I appreciate what you did here and I thought to myself you'll need to place the mug on sideways and you did. there is nothing wrong with experimenting, at the end of the day the fuel gels cost a lot of money and the wood doesn't, enjoyed it, cheers.

Hello from Vorarlberg Austria 🇦🇹 I agree the MK2 is not designed for this but it can do so in an emergency 😅 doing so repeatedly however can cause serious damage due to the fact the metal isn't designed for it. 😕 It is however nice to know that it can do so 😉👍 Kind regards Leopold 🤗

That piece of metal that looks like a handle is the stand. You fold it over the top of the burner and your cup fits fully into the stove and on top of the "handle".

Right. I just wanted to get as much air into/around the fire, since I wasn’t using the stove as designed.

Yes, he said that in the video!

Nice, I was wondering about using it as a stick burner. When I first saw the mk2 I was surprised they didn't cut a feed hole in the side seeing as its plenty big enough to be used with wood. That would make feeding the fire easy and possibly give enough air flow that the cup can be dropped into the stove as normal. Maybe that's for the mk3 😁

Please, read the "how to use book " of this item, then you will be able to see us a good use : the handle is the support of the cup... Correctly used, the handles of the cup are less hot and you will not lose warm. Sorry for my english. Friendly

Your English is fine. I knew I was using the stove incorrectly, but I was wanting to maximize airflow, that’s why the cup was on sideways.

Using wood is fine so long as you don't mind having to clean the soot off your cooker mate. I'll just stick to using my trangia with methylated spirits.

The holes are there for a reason.

Have you tried Vaseline and cotton wool balls or pads ( that ladies use for make up removing) for starting your fire ? Easier to buy and probably cheaper, as they will be in all make up and baby sections of the stores.

I have used Vaseline/cotton balls. I was just wanting to try something new. I’m a huge gadget fan and this stuff caught my eye.

I use something similar I take round cotton pads and soak them in candle wax. Now they're waterproof and when I want to start a fire just tear one up and the cotton will take a spark from a Ferro rod and burns for ages thanks to the wax

I’d suggest rotate the cup 90o and possibly use 2 tent pegs to rest the cup on. 8 mins + seems a long time .

Thanks for the idea. As for the length of time, I agree, it is a long time, but I also had the cup off the flame a few times and set it on the snow covered bricks, which just sucks the heat out.

@@silvertreeindustries6298 plus put a lid on it. water boils faster that way

I surprise no one added comments are you planning to use wood all the time or are you going to use others fuel

This was just a test. I wanted to see how the stove would act when using wood. I normally use Fire Dragon gel cubes in this stove. Esbit cubes also work well in it. I’ve wanted to try the US military gel fuel, but it it is never available anymore.
@marksadventures38893 жыл бұрын
Just leave it as it is, all that is taken into the design- we use the Dragon gels as fuel. A lid makes no difference so much as I see. I uses one for 7 years.
