Two tone sticks seems pointless being side-by-side. I'm old school Army. We had two-tone sticks but from opposite sides of the tube. Of course they never had a brown. Standard was Lite green and loam, lite green & tan and a loam & white. I never saw the Lite green & tan tubes. Going to look into this brand. Thanks Brent. :)

you can set the makeup with foot powder. Just apply powder on the makeup and brush off the excess. this helps prevent the makeup from rubbing off.

One difference i strongly recall, from when i was a cadet in canada to being in the us army, was that as cadets we were pretty hot on scrimming our helmets and rifles and applying face paint, and in the us army, not so much.
@sabre21827 жыл бұрын
Like the Brits, camming up and using helmet scrim etc. is required in the Canadian Forces.....has been for decades.......with the "new" ( late 80's) helmets with the CADPAT covers and NET that was issued...CADPAT strips of material was issued to "scrim" the helmet............failing that...wild vegetation is expected......The Brits do the exact same thing........The Germans as well...and the Germans are THE masters at camming up their vehicles etc as standard practice....seems the US forces it is almost never done...certainly was seldom done that I ever saw in NATO Ex's with them.....

When I was on active duty in the Corps, head shaving wasn't allowed and was considered an eccentric haircut. Nowadays it's different. Do you recomend painting the whole head if you shave or cover it up with a headrag or booney hat of some sort? We always mixed our paint sticks with deet or spit. Good video, Marine! Semper Fi.

Thanks, I've got a lot of buddies with shaved heads in the Marine Corps. You'll always have something on your head whether it is a kelvar, boonie or cover.

In my platoon it was a punishment to use the military issue face paint sticks, if you didn't bring your own face paint. Those things were like plastic. What I hated about the compacts was I would use more of one color then the other. So for me, I just used the tubes and bought twice as much of the one I used the most. Plus the tubes go on so fast.

In my day, 80 - 84 all we had was loam and green sticks with the colors on opposite sides of the tube was the way to go. Compacts are much better so I'm glad the SOPs have changed.

It's nice to see other types of face camo especially from other countries. A lot better than the old military stick paint from early 70s ,that stuff felt like it was pulling off your skin. What I would do was put on a light coat of Vaseline then use the stick and it would apply just like the tube cream on your video. Plus it didn't cake on and lasted a good amount of time! Thanks Brent !

outstanding presentation, this appears to be a superior product than others, great news about being chosen to judge the contest. how warm was the face paint when applied? I remember the stuff 20 years ago seemed to be left over from Vietnam. had to keep it in a pocket for a few hours to soften it up.
@Brent03317 жыл бұрын
It was about 60 degrees outside with a wind chill. Didn't have any trouble applying it.

The only kind of makeup you'l ever see me wear! Wet ashes from a fire also works. It actually looks kind of green. You can use the coals for dark contrast. Bug spray helps soften cam stick to make it easier to apply, plus it helps keep the bugs away.

Dear Brent, great video as always. Bcb has been around a long time, and still wide used. Brits are very heavy on camo.14 yr old cadets already "If you can be seen you can be hit, if you can be hit you're dead!" .... constantly ... and god forbid if you forgot to reapply, but you only forgot once. Be fun to see if they did in Alpenflage now though... :-) Thanks, great info in your videos, appreciated. C.

I realise you're just doing an advertisement but camo paint seems very 1980's. Wearing a military spec balaclava has the advantages of :- 1) Quicker to put on and take off with no mess. 2) Comes in multiple patterns to match BDU. 3) Absorbs sweat, prevents sweat running into eyes and provides additional cooling. 4) Stops sand/grit and any other undesirable shit entering your mouth. 5) Flame retardant. 6) IR protection. If you're thinking well what about the eyes well a good boonie sorts that out and you will likely be wearing eye pro or NVG's.
@Brent03317 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the reply but the last thing I want on my head for hours on end is a balaclava. We were issued light weight flame retardant balaclavas in Afghanistan. No one wore them unless they were in a turret in an MRAP. Even then guys hated wearing them. I doubt anyone operating in hot or humid environment like that of Iraq, Afghanistan or the jungles of southeast Asia would prefer having a balaclava covering their head.

RKW1138 Call me weird but, I find using a shemaugh in the heat to be better than not having one. Don't know about a balaclava though. But, a Durka Durka rag seems to work better for me than face paint. However, I haven't served in the desert sun so, I'd take Brent and Bruce's word for it. I find face paint uncomfortable to wear but, I'm a bitch so...

Can you put the tube paint into the camo compact, when the compact runs out of paint?

Then that winter al, the black guys had to paint their faces white! But the Caucasians didn't. Ever heard about this or was he pulling my leg?

I'd hardly consider military use face cam creams etc. "Guicci".....EVERY Nation's military uses a version of it...some VERY actively, The Brits, Canadians, Germans and most European Militaries use them in the field consistently....taught from Basic onwards....and they have been doing it since the 50's and 60's........same as scrimming the helmets to break up silhouette and shape.....with either fabric / netting scrim OR with natural vegetation..South American and Asian nations are big on using cam creams as well.......Singapore forces for example.....in my decade of Service int he Canadian Forces, did alot of joint ex's and NATO ex's......it was a rare day in hell that we saw US troops doing it.....occasionally maybe a bit of face paint...but not regularly nor consistently..... this new stuff that helps reduce IR signature as well?............how could ANY of that be considered a bad thing or "Guicci".....sounds more like right proper SOLDIERING.... Well done Brent.....enjoying your vids....... "Drive on Troop" :)
