In this video I bleed the fuel system of air and do the First start for the 8.3L Cummins after rebuild. It seems to run great! :-) None of it was pre rehearsed you are seeing the actual first fire. It looks like it should make a good power plant for the Hyster 15K off road forklift. Still some things to button up to finish the engine but ready to go into the forklift now.

Not bad for a hillbilly I have to say.... I was born in N. Carolina so most likely one of my legs is longer than the other too. You an Bailey can celebrate tonight with meat that still has a bone in it. Glad its all together and running. Last engine I put back together was making one out of many laying in the shop. It was just the 5.9 but still it felt good cause I was crippled and so my brother had to do what I told him to do. I had a bunch of known good parts and gaskets from several kits and some out of the boxes they came in. From pulling to fixing to install was three days and he was tired... me, I was so happy to see it run as he needed that little four fifty case dozer bad and I just needed to feel needed again

At idle probably several minutes. At idle you are looking at egt's in the 300 something range usually so given that a cylinder only sees those temps for about 1/4 a cycle it would take a long time to get the castings up to the 200deg temps they often run in normal operation.
