This is a great solar cooker and the Dutch oven that comes with it is very well made and fits in it perfectly. The meatloaf cooked in the Dutch oven in no time at all and I would give this solar cooker, two thumbs up! The link to purchase one is below.

Hi BC, Charly and fur babies! Oh yummy looking meatloaf, good seasonings. I’ve got a #10 can that I use twigs in to cook outside. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day, be safe!

Thumbs up 👍 to another person who has more than one way to cook in an emergency. #10 can hobo stoves are a good alternative. I've got a few of them, stashed away, from the days when they came filled with coffee for that very reason. If needed I can give a friend a stove to brew themselves a cup of coffee.

I don’t know why, but it always tastes better being cooked in the sun. Next, is ribs in one cooker and chicken in the other.

That looks so good, I love meatloaf! I'm making some prepper stew tonight with some homemade pull apart rolls (trying out the auguson farms powdered butter in those). I did one can of whole potatoes, one can of triple succotash which has lima beans corn and tomatoes in it, one can of keystone beef, and a handful of frozen peppers and onions. Threw it all in a pot, added some water and flour to thicken it. I'm trying out my prepper recipes to see what kind of different stuff I can come up with and to see which canned foods i actually like. The stew was pretty good.

You and Charly make a great team. Quite evident why you were successful with long haul trucking. Otherwise, you may not have survived your first cross country together. BTW, I like that recipe. Never thought about adding BBQ sauce to the ketchup. Thanks, too, for the tip on frozen veg mix. I need to get some of that. Here, it seems that either I don't have those ingredients or when I do, too much goes to waste. By the time you dished up the results from the cooker, I was drooling and ah wishing. After watching some Haines videos, I like the ease of putting it together, adjusting it & taking it apart with snaps. Sure makes storage, between uses, much easier. While the All Season Solar cooker isn't hard, just a bit more time consuming to get it back into the original carton. I also like that pot and the pot support design that retains heat. That's something I want to DIY if I can find the right material. Can see you using that pot in all of your solar cookers. If the weather is right, plan to do some spray painting today to adapt some glass and metal containers to solar cooking. Thank you for the inspiration and incentive to explore this topic, including what to do to a pickle jar, so I can cook in it. Soon, I hope to experiment with the possibility of perking coffee (can already do instant) in the ASSC. Bringing me one step closer my goal to having every way, known to man, to make a cup of coffee! Again, thank you. Hope for a blessed Saturday for you and yours. Godspeed, if you go beyond your gate.

Because I have the mostly empty trailer, I leave them assembled. I think my next solar cooking video will be trying to use all three at the same time. Baked potatoes in one. Meat in another and maybe some bread in the third.

I could smell that meatloaf through my TV. Tell Charly that I am going to try her recipe. I love me some meatloaf and now I got to make one. I may try to make one on my homemade solar oven. Yours even browned around the edge. You know my mama use to put cabbage in a pan and put the meatloaf on top of it and bake it like that. The cabbage and meat cook together. If you like cabbage, you got to try it. You needed some mashed taters to of went with that meatloaf. Yummy!

@BCtruck, BC Blades - On colder days, would it be possible to place a sheet of clear plastic or really thin glass over the solar cooker or on top of the pot in the solar cooker to retain more of the heat?

You don’t have to use this pot but you would need something with a lid to hold the heat in.

Years ago I think I came across a how to make a solar cooker out of car windshields reflective covers. It was a prepper channel which may no longer be around. Charly, is the pepper onion mix in frozen food section or fresh produce? I'd like to know if solar ovens can bake a cake or cookies. (Sorry Brad, I don't want to mess up your diet, so don't try cooking them if it would be a problem.) Do you think that would be possible? I know they take higher baking temps.

Yes, solar cookers can be used for all sorts of baking. I bought 2 dark color loaf pans, 2 8" square baking pans and looking for 2 6-count muffin tins for that very purpose. With loaf bread prices so high, these days, I'm wanting to learn to make loaf bread without using our breadmachine. I can make biscuits and such but haven't mastered the art of kneading dough. Hope this helps, till Brad comes along. He has a heck of a lot more experience in this than I do.

A pound and a half of hamburger meat??? Who can afford that? That is some serious flex there, Mr Rockefeller. For us "common folk" that is 1/3 pound hamburger meat, with equal part oats and equal part again of crackers. 😜

Many years ago, my mother in law taught me how to make meatloaf. First ingredient was 3 lbs of hamburger. Currently 27% fat is on sale for $2.99/lb and 20% fat is $5.19/lb. That's $8.97 or $15.57 for the first ingredient. Wish I could remember what it cost when I learned to make it. $.39/lb ??
