Great guide! I’ve been wanting to play ranger for a while but held off before the reboots. I’ll be giving it a try soon. Just curious though how do you think succ ranger is in 1vs1, I’d like to stay ranged but I’ll go awakening if I need to in case a dfs comes up.

Yeah unfortunately you're far better off being awakening for 1v1, succession really struggles with how fast classes are and despite some improvements to protections we're out done by even wiz/witch range when it comes to protection/CC output, even though our damage is technically higher (not that theirs is low) you will always be CC'd before you can realise that extra power.

Waited for this for some time and as always I'm not disappointed, quite the opposite. Great break down of the class and deep explanations on mechanics and how to of the class. @Anfield - ty so much for this guide. Just a quick thought on your thoughts about people looking for add-ons towards the end. Personally I play BDO about 3-4 times a year, and for about 2-3 weeks at each of those intervals. Even then I'm only on for a couple of hours at best. I enjoy the game but I don't have the time to spend hours upon hours perfecting a rotation, so I really appreciate it when someone is willing to provide the sort of content you've done here--and I imagine I'm not the only one. I only wanted to provide another perspective you might not have considered, beyond the lazy one ofc. Thanks again for the vid. Cheers! 😊

Your point on copy pasting add ons is a good one. I like to take down someone elses to get me started, but usually wind up changing them once I get the hang of the class and understand it better. I used to copy paste because "well they know best" and it lead to me developing a lot of bad habits in the game, and sucked some of the fun out of the experience. BDO is a game, not an exam do what you like

I have repeatedly tried doing the tearing arrow combo, and every time I do it, I don't get the enhanced tearing arrow balls, I do get an instant charge, but its only shooting from my bow, and doesn't spawn the 2 spirit orbs to shoot with me. Any idea where I am going wrong? regeneration > tearing arrow > penetrating wind > flow bypassing wind > tearing arrow.

Amazing guide Anfield as always top notch quality ranger stuff. Is lack of dash or some kind of mobility that bad for spots when you need to travel between packs like lets say manshaums pit grinding ?

There isn't a set order of things you should always do in order really but ultimately I did lay out the skills you will cycle through in the video. Like I said just usually I start with a pen wind/bypassing wind for tier 3 add-on first, or second if mobs are split in which case descending current, after that your kill combo depends on your gear Vs the spot, I did go over that though

Beast to be cheap or frenzy draught. You can of course put HP on hit to your add-ons depending where you're grinding. If it's low end stuff you shouldn't be losing much hp at all, for this beast draught is probably wise or hp on hit to descending current

@@Anfieldw aye thanks I was trying to avoid hp on hit to not decline my dps over time with add ons, but in higher tier areas it socks to get hit then have to go Ultra Instict mode the moment something grazed your arm

@@Xioxakura at these spots you shouldn't be going cheap so use frenzy with spirit perfume. But it's nbd to have at least one skill to recover hp on hit

@@Xioxakura you cant add-on shotgun directly and it's not a good pve skill really. Descending current isnt bad but is tier 1 add-on. Razor wind is probably better

No it's not. You can hold charging wind but once that stamina is gone you're in a world of hurt.

I want to love Ranger so bad... I have been turned off to her since her Awake was announced (if I wanna up close I'll get my Kuno out). So I'd love to just bow bow bow in PVE and PVP. So is just going pure Succ (for the most part) to PVE and PVP viable now?

In succ you will struggle with a few 1v1 matches and you need a lot of space but you can sort of get away with it. Everything else it's fine

There is no "pve combo" on ranger we use practically all the skills in our kit and there isn't a specific order they need to be done. You need to learn the inputs and how they flow but outside of starting with wailing wind the rest depends.
