Idk if this is correct, but I’ve always thought that nerd meant book smart, like an academic person. And that geek more meant video games and fandom culture.

The exact differences between a nerd and a geek aren't that well-defined, but it seems that generally accepted definitions is that nerds enjoy learning about things and specializing in them, while geeks tend to be more toward media like video games, sci-fi/fantasy shows/movies and roleplaying. I suppose which one is more popular socially will also vary widely.

This is very good, you're great at this!
