Gorgeous. I learned this by trying to transcribe it many years ago when I first heard it on the album The Melody At Night With You (around 2000). It is deceptively hard to play, at least for my level. Over the years I've relearned it several times, and each time I get to play it I'm always amazed at what Keith does harmonically; that's another reason I find it hard to play because it gets my in my feels so hard that I almost lose focus. Anyway, really enjoyed your treatment of it here, it definitely brought the emotions I'm used to having when hearing it played by the master himself.

Thanks. Yeah, there's a lot of contrapuntal movement going on in the texture. As I'm a classical pianist it's the kind of thing I'm used to, but I'm guessing that most jazz styles don't tend to involve the same level of detail or independence in separate voices? The Grossnick transcription is very precise about writing down the voice leading, including the held notes. It's funny how it sounds relatively simple to listen to, but has so much going on.

@@cziffra1980 I'm on a hiatus from playing at the moment, but when I go back I intend to take a more structured learning route, and eventually I want to get a few of those beautiful songs down. I suspected transcriptions existed but didn't know about any specific author; I'll check out Grossnick. Thanks.

@@barrowmeoct04 he said he can't share any of them any more unfortunately and I don't have permission to give copies to anyone. I think there was talk of his scores being used for an official edition but it doesn't seem to have happened.

@@cziffra1980 Oh, I was assuming it was published? I was just looking on a site called Scott Music, it 'seems' like the entire album is for sale in book format and they attribute the transcriptions to Grossnick. I'll have to investigate further. Will be a shame if they are unavailable; I'll have to spend forever transcribing if that's the case :)
