VERY thorough review. I appreciate how you covered many build issues that you came across so people can get an accurate idea of what it's like to build on it. I feel like a lot of reviewers gloss over some of the small details when those small details can actually be deal breakers for some.

if you had top radiator clearance issues why didn't you use one of the other modular features it has: being able adjust how high up the mobo tray is. Part of why the PSU area is like that is because they incorporate a mobo tray that can be at 3 different heights, with the two extra ventilation pieces on the bottom of the case back being pulled out and moved above the mobo tray as needed. You could have had 84 mm of clearance instead of whatever you went with. Or inverted the mobo to achieve 99 mm of clearance.

Bought it mostly because of the ability to invert the mainboard and MAN - i LOVE this Case even though your points about the PSU shroud and cable management are completely correct. But once it's all done this thing just looks awesome. 😁Used special double sided extra strong tape for the led strips and now they stay in place.

As my first-ever build, the best thing about this case is the removable motherboard bay, but I really hate the PSU and DVD drive installation, It's iffy. Even the RGB lighting doesn't properly sync up with the motherboard lighting since it's a 12v. Overall the accessibility and removability are great.

Absolute highest quality review... just like we're used to from you @JDTechGear ;) Thanks so much. As far as the Dark Base 900 Pro rev 2... meh. Its definitely, heavily overpriced for what you get... but even it were priced competitively in the market I think there are some MUCH better cases. Particularly for this to be Be Quiet's flagship. Kinda the way you sounded as well. It almost seems like a step BACK for them from the DBP 900 rev 1 for all the reasons you mentioned. Even the DB 700 was a better cases. Really sad considering the first one was beloved and they had SOOOO many opportunities to make this case as close to perfect as they come. I know you're probably in agreement with me as I know you have built in this case as well... but for me... the Phanteks Enthoo Pro at $100-$120 is a MUCH better case and still my case of choice for full size cases at best bang for the buck. Would also rather have the Fractal Design Define R6 and several others at a >$200 price tag. Thanks again for the great review JD. I always look forward to your videos. Something about the calm tone is super relaxing yet highly informative. Keep up the great work man!

Hahaha thanks Neight!! I do love the Enthoo Pro for best value full tower, I had a lot of fun building both the Rev 2 and Enthoo Pro, but the Rev 2 is definitely tailored more towards those who are tinkerers and full metal parts. I'm really happy I can bring a relaxed balance, I often hear that people want more excitement from me like Linus Tech Tips, but I don't know which energy charisma suits me better haha.

Hi, thank you for the review! I have a question regarding the water cooling. Building a gaming PC for my son and was considering this box. That little free space at the top concerns me a bit and I was wondering would it be possible to put the radiator outside the box, into that little space under the hood at the top keeping only the fans inside.
@alexanders.60803 жыл бұрын
Never mind, I thinks that's exactly how you did it. Will 360 mm radiator fit in there? Such as Corsair iCUE H150 Elite.

What's up with the pink/purple lighting in your video?! You should use neutral light colors, the lighting in your room makes this black case look pink/purple in a lot of the scenes, making it hard to get a proper look at how the case will look in your own room.
@jdtechgear6 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the criticism, but I use a blend of neutral light shots and colored light shots to add a bit of creativity to the filming process without distorting the true visual of the case's appearance.
@DonSanchez6 жыл бұрын
Well, to me it does distort the true visual of the case's appearance. Filming creativity is nice and all, but people don't watch hardware reviews for creative video filming/editing, they watch them to make a choice on what to buy so they want to know what they will be getting, and I doubt many people have pink/purple lights in their room. ;) High quality video shots of products are desirable, colored lights not so much.
@jdtechgear6 жыл бұрын
Don, I understand this is hardware and you want it in the most neutral light. I receive requests for both types of lighting and you may not find it desireable, but I get criticised for both. So, please try to understand my perspective as a content creator: I am trying to appeal to both audiences by blending both. If the lighting is flat, watch time goes down because viewers become disinterested with the same visual over and over again. Sure, the lights inspire more creativity, but they serve a purpose as well. I can't satisfy every viewer on the platform and I'm okay with that, the structure of the review in terms of visual is to blend wide shots with and without color and instructive shots with minimal color. Additionally, the case is completely black, so there's not much else to visualise is there? I appreciate your time to criticise my format and I will try to blend more neutral light into my reviews, but I am walking the line in between both and not shutting one out over the other for the reasons I have explained above.

That makes sense. Thanks for the review!

Panel on/off you mean the front panel or the panel over the psu?
@drtydawg732 жыл бұрын
unfortunately this case is seriously dated, they need to kee the external style but totally update the inside, also the option to change front and top panels to vented mesh. totally scrap the disk drive bay, add some room in the back for cables and just over all less screws. basically like the 802 but bigger.

I'll pass on this case. It seems over engineered, making things more complicated than is necessary for their application. However, there are lots of extras with this case. Which adds to it's price point. Even so, with all the features this case offers. It's a shame, that cable management is such a nightmare. Thanks JD.
@jeremyteti9146 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the thing for "Modular" Case, everything must be engineered to its bones, it might be too much for casual user, like I do. It might takes one or more hours to completely understand of what you wanna do with the case. But to some user this is a dream case, they can tinker with it however they want. and change it after 6 months or so after use if they are bored. I agree with the cable management space, it should have more space for such a case. it's weird with be quiet following the corsair route..
@jdtechgear6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Geo! Yeah it's a niche case, for those who are looking for a very modular case, I still think this is a great option. Otherwise for mainstream consumers I wouldn't think it would suit them as well. That's the only significant drawback, the cable space in the rear..

@dangoldsmith72756 жыл бұрын
One of the worse cases i've ever had the displeasure to build into - full of really stupid design errors that could have so easily been avoided. 1) for no apparent reason the PSU is mid-mounted with a C14 cable to the back of the chassis. What this means is any modern high end 1500W or 1600W PSU that uses the square C19 power plug (Corsair/EVGA Supernova)can't be used without making a custom internal mains adapter cable. 2) roof rads+fans and AIO coolers just don't fit, which for a brand new expensive case is such a major design flaw. I suspect they are already aware of it, as there are no images or videos on their website showing a roof radiator installed into this case, yet they do show it for others like the 601 case. Basically there is insufficient space for both the radiator and fans to fit on the inside the chassis frame, as the fans overlap the position of the VRM heatsinks which are on the top edge (when installed) on pretty much any Core-X or TR4 motherboard. The bequiet 600 case has the same problem, which they fixed in the 601 by offsetting the radiator position to the left to clear the VRM heatsink. Why the hell did bequiet not fix this issue on this case ?? 3) due to the 2nd issue you need to put either the radiator or the fans into the top plastic cover, resulting in poor thermal performance as there is barely 1cm gap for the hot exhaust air at the top under the cover. The vent holes are also insufficent in the top cover. It could have been a great case, if only they had actually tried to build a few configs inside it or asking some high system builders to validate the design before entering mass production. Asking youtubers who get sponsored or given the case for free is not the way to get a proper evaluation as they are only likely to do one build into the case. if you're thinking or using this case for a high end build - forget it until they fix the stupid design mistakes.
@yosoy1loco5 жыл бұрын
Im a bit surprised that this comment is only 3month old. 1) Doesnt he say that exactly for that reason you can put the shroud more and and forth? Does that not solve the problem? (6:21) 2/3) The problem that there is not enough space for radiators (at top) for exhausting air without getting it back in is quite old and true to most of Bequiet'S series. Im not entirely sure, but i think the new silentbase 801 has solved this problem a bit, so maybe it would have been a better choice for you. Nevertheless I wonder why they were not able to solve the problem in Revision 2 of DB900.
@juddsandage5 жыл бұрын
I know this is a year late, and I am reiterating what Matt LR said, but the motherboard tray can be moved down or even flipped to the other side, the whole case is modular, so complaining that they designed something wrong when not even trying to use what they designed in to it is... a little dim. RTFM!
