Around 1989 I asked Audree why Carl doesn't shave his beard, and she told me there's lots of stuff it covers up. I think it's most likely because Carl looked a lot like Murray without it and he didn't want to make his brother feel uncomfortable.
@toastertwo1602 Жыл бұрын
@@profanius66 Probably yes. I have to admit, in the 70's beard helped him a lot, making him look more mature. But later on, when it became grey, it made him look much older than he was.

Hindsight is 20/20 but....really? Boston doesn't win this category? It wasn't just More Than a Feeling...the whole album was worthy of Best album of the Year. It's a CLASSIC. Nothing against the Starlight Vocal Band but it's a farce to call them a new artist. Half the group are songwriting and performing vets. They co-wrote Country Roads with John Denver back in 72. To say they are new artists is totally false. Sour grapes but Boston deserved to win.
@johnfulton4061 Жыл бұрын
The new artist category has always been a somewhat controversial category the Milli Vanilli fiasco when Shelby Lynne won sheentioned in her acceptance speech that this was her fifth album meanwhile Whitney Houston was denied a nomination in that category on a slim technicality maybe they should rename the category the horizon artist so this will cover artists that are new as well as artists that have been around a while but are finally making a break through

@@johnfulton4061 there is a scene in Good Will Hunting where Matt Damon is on a couch at a psychologist's office and he responds to a question by singing Afternoon Delight. In a novelty sense, I like it for that reason. But Boston is beyond a great band. They defined a genre that we all love.
@johnfulton4061 Жыл бұрын
@@JeffreyOakarPhotos Afternoon Delight is a cute song but Boston was awesome everytime I listen to More than a feeling it blows me away and I'm not really a hard rock fan I think what can explain the reason Boston lost is because at that time I don't know about now the average age of a grammy voter was 50 I know this because I had two friends that were grammy voters at that time and that's what they were told by the academy that explains a lot like Lionel Ritchie beating Prince and Springsteen for Album of the year

Cute, cuddly, and innocent? Maybe the televised aesthetics but in practicality, there wasnt much that was cuddly/cute/innocent about the 1960s and 70s. Although I prefer the fashiom sense of the 70s over the 80s,90s, and 00s.

WTF were they thinking! I don't even remember this! I actually found this out a few days ago. Well let's look at impact and career. Obviously Boston and the Brothers Johnson had better careers but there's no way anyone can listen that saccharine piece of crap and say they deserve a grammy for best new artist. Boston then the Brothers Johnson then wild cherry. After that who cares. What a shame

I have the Welcome to Fat City CD, I believe it's a Korean import and it sounds wonderful. It's possible to have the Bill & Taffy and SVB records distributed digitally, including in high definition on sites like HDTracks, if you have access to the original master tapes.
