I bought one yesterday dec 31, 2019. Green color in Santos city , Brazil, US$ 25. Considering the price and overall features makes sense buy one as small pocket radio. Totally agree with your comments. I am a radio lover and for me the best are Sony radios. Anyway Toshiba is something very special for me because is rare to find them n Brazil. Toshiba tape recorder I had one in 1968 e when I was a 10 years old boy . Really liked Toshiba TX PR20 . Thanks

I still use my 1976 Sears am fm air police tv channel D cell and plug in. Not sure who made it for Sears but I like it 43 years now and it works fine. Radio 📻 is fun to take camping doesn’t cost anything. Theater for the mind on Saturday night and Church Chat on Sunday morning.

I really love horizontal radios for using on a desk, but vertical is perfect for pocket use. you can do either, but it seems like they're more suited for each case.

So I just got this radio in the mail today. It works really well and all but I think the Sony ICF-P36 is a superior radio in every regard. While the Toshiba does everything its supposed to do well enough, its internal construction left allot to be desired. While the Sony is constructed with a sort of machine like perfection this Toshiba looks to have been mostly hand assembled and soldered by someone clearly focused on mass production instead of quality, it doesn't affect its function in the least, but its little things like that which bug me lol. I also got the blue version like you did.....should've got it in black hahaha. The blue is too light in color for my taste.

Its amazing...the board looks crappy, but its got this kick butt speaker in it..what gives? I like how solid the cabinet is too. Just wish it performed better then just my locals.

todderbert yeah haha guess the speaker is its one redeeming factor, I mean its not a terrible radio. Its good enough for a regular pocket radio, but Toshiba used to make such nice radios back in the day. Oh well I guess we should be grateful they even make these today.

Hey there! I found this video and I was intrigued! I ordered this radio (same color as yours) and it was exactly as you said! The quality of it along with the sound has been nothing short of outstanding! I want to eventually get all of the colors just to have a complete collection! This is quite a gem of a radio! I've always been a Panasonic man and I unfortunately have to agree with your assessment on the P50. The build quality of it left a lot to be desired, and as a Panasonic fan, it hurt to find that out when I first got it. The only redeeming thing about the P50 is the sound quality, but even this Toshiba beats it out! I'd be curious for you to do a review of Toshiba's Multi-band radio with USB, the TY-HRU30. I'd also be curious for you to do a review on the Panasonic equivalent of the TY-HRU30, the RF-800u. Thank you for your channel and for your awesome reviews!

I too, prefer horizontal, "table top' oriented radios. I liked this one so much I bought a green one, a blue one, and a red one. It isn't the best on weaker FM, but serviceable on strong local stations. I just love the look. Adding a wire definitely helps. I agree, the big broad tuning indicator is a let down. Actual old classic radios did it so much better. I wonder if one could alter it? Oh, I also wish they had printed the numbers on the inside of the clear plastic. Any ideas on how to "seal" them so that they won't wear off?

I got the Turquoise one. Sadly all the color versions arent available now. It is a solid radio that is fun to walk around with. However there is now a NOAA version in Black available under SilvaBRYSON brand.

Hi Todderbert, big fan here. Love your reviews. I have been trying to find a portable radio radio for my mom. I ordered the sony p36 but fm reception was pretty weak. Her main requirements are: 1. Clear fm reception, low noise 2. Good smooth sound I have now shortlisted this and the panasonic 150d. I think panasonic would be better option, what do you say? Thanks for everything

The Panasonic with the D designation is for DSP, which I find is much better on FM for most radios.

The Panasonic is a better tuner, but the audio on this all Analog Toshiba is good.

Here, for tx-pr20 , FM reception is not good , able to catch signal for stations upto 30 km. Unable to catch distant fm stations even in night time. Also AM reception is okay okay type. However battery life is good.

I think this radio is new old stock. Why else would the AM stop at 1600? It's a cool little radio, I just look at it as nothing special. If you want to color coordinate, buy it!

It is not special, but its build quality is crazy good..seriously tough. The little speaker is actually pretty decent..was surprised when I opened it up. Speaker retention brackets like the old school portables..wow. imgur.com/a/lGb00
