You are a great teacher Roger, I am 85 and I have loved beach fishing all my life but I have learned a lot from your excellent videos. I am now catching many more worms after realising my mistakes and I am also reading the ocean and sand bars better and catching more fish. Thank you Mate.

We travel down from Brisbane to Wooyung Beach, south of Pottsville. We have 2 collapsible 7' rods and a couple of 30 sized reels, permanently in the boot. We usually do pretty well with big Bream and Whiting. casting out 20 -30 metres. Then it's off to the Brunswick Heads Hotel for lunch, a stroll along the wall and then home. Great days. I can't wait for your videos Geoff Barnes

Hi Jenny, put 1kg of fish flesh in a food processor and blend. Then add 1 teaspoon crushed garlic, 4 teaspoons of Thai red curry paste, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, pinch of salt, 3 kaffir lime leaves finely chopped. Blend till combined. Remove from processor and add 5 green beans thinly chopped ( adds crunch) Roll into balls and flatten. Cook in a frypan with either peanut oil or sunflower oil. Enjoy

I have done a lot of fishing along the Victorian 90 mile beach and there have been times when similarly to you, the line has gone completely slack and you have to wind quickly in order to catch up to the fish…..on most occasions the culprits have been the Australian Salmon…Another great video Roger.

Well I have been watching your videos. I am not in England although I lived there for a while many years ago. I surfish quite a lot in America and it is amazing how similar the beaches are. I live in Virginia, but do most of my fishing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This weekend I am going to Ocracoke Island at the southern end of the island. Camping at the National Park and fishing for huge spring red drum, and smaller puppy drums, (the keeper drums are slotted, meaning you can only keep fish under 27 inches and sharks, bluefish, flounder, Spanish mackerel, pompano, spots, croaker, and sea mullets on a regular basis. The number of fish is also control per day depending on the species. I was watching your videos to excite myself for this weekend. I am going to trying the stinger rig. Last time I was in NC I landed a seventy-eight pound shark on twenty pound line in about four foot waves at night. Very scary. I will be camping on the beach. This weekend I will be 70 been surf fishing my entire life. Learned as a small child in Boston MA, have fished the entire east coast of America north to south. So much fun. Never caught a salmon. Like the videos. Thanks

England ? This is Australia. By the way "Australian Salmon" are not actually a salmon at all. They are a large relative of the Herring. Generally used for bait or pet food.

Why don't you use circle hooks Roger? No need to strike as they self set, better hook up rate and almost zero gut hook. It's a win-win-win. Most professional fishos use them now a days.

I think its because he uses the worm as bait so its easier and quicker to

fun stuff! question about how you hook on the worms - noticed sometimes the hook point comes out the side, sometimes you just leave the end of the worm covering the tip so it follows the whole 'J' of the long shank. any reason or difference for either method for hook ups and take rate?
@RogerOsborneFishing Жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph. I normally fully cover the hook with worm. The worms are soft so it does not matter if the barb is hidden

Hi Roger another question if you don't mind. How often do you use your hook after a successful fishing trip. Further do you sharpen or discard them?

I stopped the video to write the comment and it was basically just 5 seconds before the worm bit your finger :p

No, they are not dangerous at all. They have black fangs, but they are not able to penetrate human skin.
