50 years ago I watched my father do the same thing on the north shore. It was late August and he got the brown shark to hit a surface lure. All I wanted to do was get out of the water and all he wanted to do was land the shark. Which he did and got the hook out the same way. You sir, are walking in the footsteps of giants. Great video

Good morning Johnny, I wanted to ask you how tight you set you’re drag. Me and my dad crush the Barb’s which is the safest way for us and the fish. I’ve lost soo many fish cause the blues are soo fiesty. You know when they jump out/ that’s like when I loose them. So I have a couple poppers where I keep the barb on. I try to keep the tension as best I can. What’s the secret to keeping them on the pencil poppers when they thrash it and then land them/horsing them in ?
@JohnSkinnerFishing3 жыл бұрын
Just keep a bend in the rod. That will keep tension on the line and keep fish from shaking free.

i have to wonder the decrease in boats and fishing during the pandemic as let the oceans have time to heal

I believe it’s correlated to the reduction of the Bunker quota over the past 3 years of the factory ship Omega. It’s by no means a reduction in boats there are more boats and more boaters than ever.
