Some observations from a rookie here: 1. That takes years of skill and confidence to be that patient with that fish and as you said … not exactly the right set up. 2. That set up from lure to reel to pole and line will sky rocket in sales overnight. And finally, at least we know you are in pretty good shape breathing heavy like that. Pretty amazing footage. John, I hooked, landed and safely released a BIG tarpon on my kayak yesterday. It was thanks to this video and your other tarpon videos that I managed. The fish was so big I was frankly terrified, and was pretty sure I was out of my league but remembering your video i used your knowledge and tactics to succeed. So thank you!
@JohnSkinnerFishing3 жыл бұрын

@@JohnSkinnerFishing thanks! I use a plastic fish grip, really handy when unhooking trebles. Your comments about sapping energy on the jumps and gaining energy with the gulps really helped me time it so I could safely get her to the side of the boat without snapping my rod or getting pulled in. I towed her about 5 mins to revive her and she swam off fine. Oh and like you I said thanks! Wow, what a ride.
