I got a manual tire changer from Harbor Freight and it has served me well. It has a bead breaker and you can get the tires on and off without too much trouble. I usually mount my tires then take em to my local tire guys for airing up and balancing.

I remember mounting tires for tractor trailer trucks using a couple tire spoons, a can of starting fluid and occasionally a tire maul to get the tire onto the rim then I’d finish using two modified tire spoons to get the rest of the bead seated. Coincidentally I used the same tire spoons to get the old tire off of the rim usually after breaking the bead loose using the wide duckbill edge on the tire maul I used to find strange things inside of the truck tires In fact, I once found aan8” long Phillips screwdriver inside a tire and another time I found an open end wrench in a tire I must say that it made a huge hole that made a tire patch necessary.

Where I come from a rim is the outer edge of a wheel. We say " I'm going to put some new wheels and tires on my Trans Am" circa 1977. We call the wheel the section that mounts to the car and the tire the part that installs on the wheel.
@timothyboone50032 ай бұрын
This video should come with a warning. The dangers involved with this method can not be overstated. Without a doubt this method works. I’ve used it probably 50 or more times in my life. But I’ve also blew brand new tires up, I’ve broken the steel belts in the tire rendering it useless and I’ve had a loader tire jump about 25 feet into the air. That’s a combined weight of over 175 lbs flying through the air and bouncing around on its return to earth. Someone could easily get injured or unalived by this method. Try at your on risk.

On the "popfluid", the issue was having no gap for the fire to get in. I wouldn't have put more ether inside. Perhaps that is a good time for the bucket under the wheel... to keep a gap. Just being an armchair ommenter. Take care, be safe!
@TF8568 ай бұрын
Obviously if the bead is touching then you don't need to use that method. Just like your first attempt. The flame and the flammable mist were not able to touch each other because the bead was touching all the way around.

I was thinking you don't need a bucket for mounting the second bead onto the rim. It just looked more awkward than doing it on the ground. Can you please tell me why acing it flat on the ground isn't a good way to do that? Thanks.
@jimmybob70282 ай бұрын
Flat on the ground scratches up the rim.
@BawkrАй бұрын
Not only that but on the ground you have more support for you weight off the ground all your weight is where you want it. I have a manual changer though never done this. Manual changer with 2 of those new plastic clamps is a breeze. So fast. Just here for more fire instructions
