How to seat a stubborn tire bead. With a bike inner tube.

1:35 "we set that rim on a 5 gallon bucket"... Well there's 90% of your problem right there! You can see the tyre is hanging down off that rim opening up a huge gap. You get there in the end with the 2x4s but you are fitting new tyres, so you must still have the old tyres around. Just lay an old tyre on the ground (bare tyre not fitted on a rim) and lay the rim & tyre you're fitting on top of it. The tyre is now evenly supported all around the edge and the weight of the rim is unsupported & hanging down closing the gap. Apply soap, put your foot on the middle of the rim just to get the gap firmly closed & pump it 'till it pops. I did this a few days ago with a foot pump balanced on the rim on a sheet of plywood. That's the first time I've popped the bead without using flammable stuff!

50/50 water and dish soap solution on the tire inner tube helps too

They make a soap that is used in the tire industry that we cared jelly soap there's one company named Murphys you can lube the bead the rim and your inner tube and it should push the inner tube out you can also pack the bead with the jellysoap and the bead will also push that out as well

I used a 26” tube. That way there is excess tube to pull on and you’re not sticking your fingers in between the tire and the rim, which is a good way to lose some fingers.

Honestly I think a torch is way easier and safer. You get your finger in there when it seats and you will probably loose them.
