BEAD Fishing NIAGARA RIVER Steelhead!

We do a quick early season trip to see if the fish are in the river and are surprised to find good number of steelhead mixed in with some early lake trout. The clear water in the lower Niagara River right now made for a tough bite but we took a handful of beautiful steelhead and lake trout using beads under slip floats. These first steelhead of the season are on fire!

I know for most it’s a strange thing to see but the only water worth fishing is right against shore. They give shore guys plenty of room and will even clear lines if your fish makes a run. Makes for a pretty unique experience though.

It really depends on the creek but beads have been out fishing egg sacks almost everywhere for us lately.

It would be tough in crutches. The NY Power Authority has a fishing platform with an elevator to get you to the water level that might be worth checking out. It will reopen in April.
