The Tuff N' Dry has arrived from Tremco along with a pallet of strip drain. So soon we will be doing the waterproofing and backfilling for the ICF mansion. I make some orders from Tractor Supply and Lowe's. Grandma Bealy Good shows up to take a tour of the house build. Mrs Bealy Good rents a big water slide. Alot is going on but not a lot getting done. Oh, and we're finally going to be getting cows!! Might be Dexters or Highlands or both. Stay tuned.

Just a suggestion Geoff, those three drums you have there, tilt the tops so they are not under water. No matter how tight the bungs are they will draw water in. I worked in a bulk fuel depot and all drums outside had a piece of 4x4 under one side so the water would drain off the tops preventing water getting drawn into the product inside.

Moooooooooooooooooooooo! We had cows for a few years. They were sweet if not the brightest things. We loved feeding them the grass from the freshly mowed lawn when we mowed. They would come a running to get that bright green stuff compared to the regular pasture.

If you're going to raise cows , be sure to always keep two of them , to keep each other company . If you don't, they get lonely and start calling out to any other cows that might hear them .

@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 I hear that all the time around here there is a bunch of cows, but some of them will get off to one area and when they round up the coward and try and kill it the cows are gone for good and then to move them to another field for grazing another one or two may get lost or left behind for a day or two and you hear them in the distance just crying like babies all night long

Another channel called Wild Wonderful Off Grid solved the problem by getting a milk cow and then rotating out one beef steer every year or so. That way you get fresh dairy and beef without the problem associated with trying to raise just one animal.

My suggestion is that you consider miniature Jersey cows. They are expensive but in high demand for lifestyle blocks that are too small to support a regular cow, or that the land owners do not want the milk yield from a full sized cow. The sale of any progeny would be assured.

@BealyGood Check-out 'Banded Galloway's' or 'Highlanders', their people friendly, and are premium meat, the decision to make is Cattle that's pulled ( no horns ) or not pulled, both are low fat content ( meats marbling ) and not as huge ! If your considering on getting Jersey Cattle ( who are typically raised for milking ) the Bulls are mean !

I know back years ago you might want to check because the houses with stucco had foam on the walls and for some reason the foam was getting wet and holding moisture and is was underground and termites was eating the house up and they now recommend not using foam might want to check to see if you might need to do something extra

What are you intending for heat/cooling & power - supplied or solar & ground source heat/cooling pump? I'm in the initial stages of planning my last home & will be going as "off grid" as possible, which here in the UK will save a significant amount (cost of a first class return flight to Atlanta every year). I bet you I sprayed some of the nastiest waterproofing or seal coating undercoater you could ever imagine one of them was a product made by Tremetco or something like that it was back in the 1980s and it required a massive pump it was probably 1.5 GPM with 3000 psi at the bar. I guess they mean tip which is the bar that’s basically in your hand it was like trying to spray sheet rock, mud, sand, and hair or maybe it was just a stringy material almost like cotton candy come out of the tip and there was another Type of coating, don’t remember what it was called, but it was an encapsulator that came out of the gun like a fiber fortified rubber, but the fibers were very microscopic fine very soft to pass through the pump the gun Had an orifice the size of a sewing needle or larger you could literally put a sewing needle through the hole but they were only good for about 45 gallons of material by then you could literally put a finish nail through the tip the material basically bored out the tip as you sprayed. And they said that it could not be done, but I sprayed thanemcrete. It was a product that we used to encapsulate asbestos cement board or siding with from the 40s and 50s I think they have eventually outlawed that stuff.

I've thought about cows here too, but I'd end up raising them all until they died off, only getting milk out of them. I don't know if I could bring myself to kill one for meat that I raised myself. You get to know them even if you try not to, then well, you're eating your friend. Not real keen on that....but, I do like milk products, plus the chicken and duck eggs, even if I don't eat the chickens and ducks. Yeah, hopeless.

@@BealyGood Cows hate me for some reason. I planted 150 spruce seedlings at my friends acreage after a forest fire went through. I went out a few days later and neighbours cows broke through the fence ane were eating and sitting on the seedlings. I freaked out and started yelling at the cows. Then one of the biggest cows came up and started snorting and kicking dust with its feet. Well the rest of the herd got mean and they all decided to run at me. I ran for my car just in time. I now carry a rifle when I go out there. There not going to get me.
