The Little Mermaid: anyone ever thought that Ariel didn’t know how to write ‘human’? I know she signs the contract with Ursula but could have been illiterate by human standards. She didn’t know what some of the things were like a ‘fork’….
@Wendy_O._Koopa4 ай бұрын
I came here to say this, if you're gonna base your video's thumbnail on this one, it had better be a good one. But he addressed it, the characters _talk_ to each other with no _language_ barrier! Yeah? That still doesn't mean their writing systems are identical. And how is she supposed to "walk around with a pad and pen"? She comes to the shore with literally nothing, not even "the clothes on her back" cliché. Everything she has, the prince gave to her. If Eric never gives her something to write with or on, then she never has anything. Anyhow, the point is, when characters don't think of the same solution you did, that's not a plot hole; that just means the characters didn't think of it. (And this is ignoring the possible seafolk and human writing differences.)
@calronkeltaran4934 ай бұрын
@@Wendy_O._Koopa it's sure possible that merfolk and humans use different form of writing. ofc this could have been easily cleared up by Ariel writing something into the sand, just for eric not understanding it. it's literaly 20sec of extra time. but on the other side, it is still a movie aimed at kids. so maybe they just thought kids wont ecognize. at least I didn't bother when I was little
@Wendy_O._Koopa4 ай бұрын
@@calronkeltaran493 To me a plot hole has to be a _lot_ bigger than "the characters on screen didn't try this thing I thought of." Hindsight is 20/20, Ariel is probably kicking herself too for not thinking of writing something, and at least _checking_ if the writing systems were the same. A plot hole is more like Steve Rogers’ Time-Traveling Paradox in *Avengers: Endgame* where it breaks all the rules previously established for no good reason. Also, with no explanation that I'm aware of.
@MsMichelleHW4 ай бұрын
@@Wendy_O._Koopa Agree! And being that she didn’t know human stuff, I doubt off-hand she would’ve known what they were for. That meant slowing the storyline for Eric to show Ariel how to use a pad and paper. I know they can sign their name and read but you hardly see the merfolk writing things. One could even make an argument knowing how to read doesn’t mean knowing how to write.
@Dargonhuman4 ай бұрын
@@MsMichelleHW To build on that as well, the contract Ariel signed was on some sort of magical glowy parchment that appeared and disappeared from seemingly nothing. Paper doesn't survive long in the ocean, nor does pen ink, so the concept of either would be completely alien to Ariel. To compound the problem, paper and ink weren't common commodities at that time, nor was the ability to read. Granted, Eric being a prince would likely grant him easier access to those resources, as well as the education to read, but why would he assume that the random mute girl he found on the beach could read or write, especially when she couldn't even speak? Considering the fact that even medical professionals of the time considered being mute to be equivalent to being too stupid to use language, it's entirely possible - and actually likely - that the royal family doctor would have concluded that she was incapable of reading or writing due to her condition. So, Ariel wouldn't know how to ask for paper and a pen as she wouldn't know what they were, Eric wouldn't offer them assuming she couldn't read or write, and even the doctors of the time would conclude that her muteness meant she wasn't smart enough to do either anyway. At no point would even the possibility of her writing a letter ever be considered by anyone involved.

There are far bigger plot holes in other films. "Back To The Future 2" could have been entirely avoided if the Doc had just gone to the future himself and told Marty that his kid would rob a bank a week before hand. This would leave 80's Marty still at home in the 80's. No sports almanac, no Biff becoming rich, and no "Back To The Future 3". Since "Infinity War" was brought up numerous times, Thanos could have been easily defeated by Dr. Strange when they were on Titan. During the scene where Spiderman and Iron Man were trying to take the glove off while Thanos was sedated, Dr. Strange could have simply opened a portal around the glove, then closed the portal, effectively severing Thanos' entire hand...Just like Dr. Strange had done earlier in the film to one of Thanos' henchman.
@JeromeBellon4 ай бұрын
BTTF2 is even worse. Given Doc's explanation of timelines, old Biff couldn't have brought the car back to his original timeline. After giving the almanach to his younger self, traveling back to the same date would have led him to the new timeline where he's ultra-rich. That's a very common plot hole in time travel movies: you impact the past, but somehow the impact only affects things down the line after events are also "resolved" in the future. In my opinion, this works in two special cases: 1. when you travel to the past but keep a link to your original timeline (e.g. X-Men Days of Future Past) or 2. when the time travel power or device allows for timeline hopping and not just forward/backward movement (e.g. arguably the Infinity Stone of Time). The time machine of BTTF most definitely doesn't qualify for either case as explained by its inventor himself. (Admittedly he could be wrong, but the rest of the script does match his explanations.)
@JStryker473 ай бұрын
Actually, what Doc should've done was told 1985 Marty not to race Needles, and to stop getting worked up over being called chicken, because it'll cause him serious problems in the future. OR, if the first half of part 2's events still happened, since Marty already knew about the Cubs winning the World Series, then he should've just done what the old guy suggested - bet money on the Cubs.

@pr61385 ай бұрын
Not true. The movie explicitly states that the Pym particle reduces the distance between the molecules so that a person can shrink without losing their mass and strength. And even if not, your explanation makes no sense. If he could expand and contract so quickly, he would always do so - why should there be different speeds here? And IF there was this “fast” transformation at the same time as the “normal, slow” transformation, they would have explained it in one of the movies. And IF he really can grow and shrink THAT fast, math is fun again: If he gets big and small again for less than a 24th of a second (that's how fast it has to happen so it doesn't show up in the 24 frames per second of a movie), we can do the math like this: It goes from about 1 cm to about 180 cm in a maximum of half a frame (the other half frame to become small again). This corresponds to 1.8 meters in a 48th of a second (0.021 seconds), or 86.4 meters in one second. This corresponds to 311.04 km/h or 193.27 mph. So even if he did NOT jump forward (as seen at 5:34), he would hit him with his entire body at AT LEAST 200 mph at face level, which would be unpleasant for both of them (although much more unpleasant for the bad guy). And since we see such hits multiple times, we can assume that the big-small transformation is even faster, because that's far more likely than him taking exactly 23.99 frames each time and us not seeing it at 24 frames each time. Furthermore, just shrinking at SUCH a speed would create a considerable vacuum every time.... Or when enlarging (e.g. in small, closed rooms) a non-negligible overpressure. You can argue as you like: Ant-Man makes no sense in the movie with mass conservation/non-conservation.

It's even entirely possible the aliens were the equivalent of teenage rabblerousers, doing this whole thing for the lulz and thinking "oh we'll just avoid liquid water, it's fine" and then experiencing FAFO. And there is no level of intelligence immune from stupid behavior, so...yeah. Doesn't exactly change the fact that the plot is pretty meager, though. I actually saw the movie back when it released in theaters and I remember being fairly underwhelmed, especially considering that I had liked Sixth Sense and Unbreakable.

For Toystory, how about this plot hole: When Buzz "flies" for the first time, he leaps from the bed, onto and off a ball, lands on a racecar track, gets launched into the air, and spins around tethered to a toy plane before landing back on the bed. All with his eyes closed. The "eyes closed" was part challenge/part plot convenience because... how in the hell did he pull that off?! You can argue he's the best of the best of the StarCommand, so he's got skills but... 1)He should have been expecting extreme G-Forces from his thrusters. 2)He should have noticed the changes in gravitational pull as he hit the ball and flipped as he bounced off. 3)He had no way of knowing *exactly* where everything was on the "uncharted planet" so he was performing "Die in a firey crash." levels of "Rookie Hotdogging" by flying with his eyes closed. (His suit probably had "instruments" he was relying on, but he was a toy so they didn't work.) 4)How did he gain enough thrust from the track to go all the way to the ceiling? (A feat that's never done again, by the way.) 5)How, exactly, did he get attached to the plane and turn it on in the first place? And 6)The track was skinny and in a loop-de-loop formation. Even if the loop was spread out far enough that his body wouldn't hit it and knock him to the ground, his "impressive wingspan" definitely should have hit something!

@@DavidAmrod For me, I think for the family it was a matter of watching the signs, that's why they named it signs. His wife's last words, his brother's story about the puke and his way of playing baseball, the weird tic his daughter has even the sons asthma, were all connected. I thought the storyline was more based on how a man lost his faith because he was too traumatized by losing his wife and not understanding why such a terrible thing would happen to him, once the aliens invaded all those terrible things and their struggles played a part in how they escaped and lived, and once he realized that everything happens for a reason, even bad things, his faith was restored and they lived more normal lives. I do think that this video should not have included signs as having a plot hole cuz in the movie the military guy says that this was a recon party checking things out, and in nowhere it says that the aliens are highly intelligent creatures, we also went to the moon and have telescopes that can see super far, but we haven't even cured aids, cancer or explored the entirety of the ocean.. and there's lots of reasons why our water could be bad for them, as much as we think that water is all part of life, we really don't know, and we don't know if the creatures and pathogens, or even ph in our waters would be the same as the water out there in the universe. I really don't think there's anything wrong with this movie people just need to use their imagination and little bit of science knowledge.

Some of these can be explained pretty easily. For me, the snap in particular is not a problem. It's a symbolic gesture. He doesn't need to literally snap, but he used it as an example of how easy it is to wipe half the life in the universe with the six Infinity Stones. He doesn't need the snap to actually make a sound. At worst, one of the stone can simulate the sound if he really wants it to make his point. (It's also a visual symbol for the audience. You want something to signal that the whole gauntlet is being used for dramatic effect.)

3:50 I think the midnight rule in Gremlins was ment to be related to the witching hour. The witching hour is said to be immediately after midnight or and also in some cases between 3 to 4 am. During the witching hour demons, ghosts, and other forms of supernatural being become the strongest. This would somewhat explain why feeding it at those hours is a bad idea. This would also mean by after midnight the old man ment from 12 to 4 am so after 4 should be safe to feed them. Daylight savings time probably doesn't count as that was something people came up with and not an actual universal thing. I doubt if supernatural creatures are really the cause of the Gremlins that they would follow daylight savings time and while it seems a scene showing the daylight savings time works it wasn't ever used meaning it's not canon.

For instance, usually they manipulate scenes and/or straight up lie about a movie's content to invent _new_ plot holes... to keep people arguing in the comments... I guess? That's all I can figure.

In the first Transformers Sam also falls off a building but is caught by Optimus Prime. You'd think falling into a giant metal hand would still kill him or at the very least mess him up really bad
