Hello. I use the digital key plus. Is there a way to adjuat rhe usage e.g. I would like my phone to only close the car when I go away, not opening when I'm approaching. It's nice but I often pass near my car during the day and it keeps opening :) Thanks.

I have had my car 3 days and been having clitchiness with Apple CarPlay and it seeing my garage door and presenting me a button to open the door and not being responsive. When I go direct to the underlying Home App, none of my Home devices are seen. They are stuck as 'unresponsive.' Parked outside my house, I attempted to turn off 'wifi' but it said it would disconnect CarPlay (which was fine but not really what I wanted). It threw me back onto CarPlay. I'm wondering if the DK+ (without physical key present) was causing some sort of loop where the car is dependent upon the connection and interfering with the Home App and thus me getting into the garage. Make sense? My Mini has (with no such DK) has never had this issue. Thoughts? Actually just came in from outside and home app is telling me my HomePods are on a different network and then listed the BMW network. Wondering if just walking by the car with comfort access is tripping as well.

Just getting to your comment, seems odd. I know carplay can get weird if you're trying to use it near your house as it's trying to connect to the home wifi network and maybe your garage as well. Sounds like this issue should be fixed by some software updates.

You cannot charge the key fob battery while you are driving. I have a how to change a bmw battery video on the channel. It may just need to be replaced every couple years. Quite easy to do.

How do I get my 2024 i4 to recognize me? I have tge digital key set up on my phone. When I walk to the car it unlocks by itself and locks when I walk away. But when I get in, it goes to guest. I have to select my name then scan the barcode and wait. Then tge car goes to my name and settings. How do I get it to just go to my name and settings when I get in???

It’s been an issue going around. I’d say you’re the 4th one to mention it today. They should be resolving it soon. You could try repairing the digital key all together from scratch. So try going into the digital key settings and resetting it.

I have that issue and cant seem to get the car to use comfort access with digital key. How do you get it to recognize the digital key and unlock automatically? I have an 2024 i4, manufactured after November 2022, but it will not automatically unlock. I've checked all the settings and reset it. Contacted genius and they didn't have an answer.

Hi just picked up my first BMW it´s a iX1 drive 30 Fully Charged Plus. The (Fully Charged Plus) might have a different name in US . Anyway i found the BMW card in the glove department, honestly i don´t get what i achieve with this card. I have a key-fab in my pocket, the car automatically unlocks when i get close and locks automatically when i leave. So i don´t need the card entering the car, is like an additional reserve key? By the way your videos are great :-)

Key card could be used as a valet key, but you may have to show someone how to use it. I have one for my car and never used it. Was more usable when we weren't allowed to use our phones to work as a digital key but now that we can with our phones, almost no point to have the card.

Just getting to your comment, if you go into the door settings, there is a function there where you can have it set to open all doors on a single click.

So a couple of things on this. 1. I understand you have to have both key fobs in the car to actitave the digital key card. Is that your experience as well? 2. In order to use the digital key card, you have to unlock the card with the card, and place the card on the cell phone try and start the car within 30 seconds. If you don't, the entire process is invalidated and you have to start again (exiting the vehicle and locking it, and starting over). is this your experience as well?

Almost, so Yes I would make sure a profile or ID is setup first. Then have both of the keys, then place the card on the charging tray to activate. You do not have to repeat the process, once you get in, just play around with the card on the tray and it should start once you press the start button while it's sittng on there.

Just getting to ur comment, when this happens its best to delete the digital key from within the car key settings and you may just have to re-install the app after that.

You should be able to go into settings, look for the DOORS/ACCESS setting and inside there, there is a setting called "Fold mirrors in when locking"

Mirrors fold when locking or walking away with regular key. When locking with the digital key the mirrors didn’t fold in.

I own a 3 serie G21 , from july 20, on previous OS7, i have confort access, digital key feature in car option menu, but no way to have it in the apps 😅 ( no blue widget , no distance service option, no line in vehicule information 😢 ) other distance options works well . Do you know where it may come from ? I tried the 30sec button old, data privacy Check on apps, and on main website, all is toggle to on :s Maybe anything miss in the car ? Good Question. I remember the 20 models were still very new at the time, it may be that it had a different chipset at the time and may not be compatible with your phone, just the key card. Your best bet would be to call BMW and check to see if your vehicle has it built it, they'll have to run the vin number in order to confirm it's compatible. Keep in mind if its a 2020, their could be a good chance it was built in 2019, and the connected drive subscription may be expired, if it is, digital key will not work.

Go into settings and see if you can find the digital key option/settings menu, you should be able to reset things and re pair it.

It’s recommended to use the digital key card for valet parking situations. You would have to show them how it works though.

Question: can I leave my key fob in my car while I take my phone with me outside of my car and lock it and walk away? I have done this before and it does lock with the fob in the car. Is this dangerous to do? Can they still get in the car and steel?

Yes you can leave the key inside and walk away with the phone to lock it in. It's not dangerous but I would try to keep the key inside hidden so know one can see it and give them a greater incentive to break in.

Check your privacy settings, you have to make sure everything is allowed and set to all apps and services.

You could ask your dealer to ask BMW if you're vehicle was suppose to come with one. Or you could call BMW Assist and they can check your vin number to see. I know if you purchase a certified pre owned BMW, you're usually guaranteed 2 keys, so it might be worth asking for the key card as well.

Check to see if the key fob may be in a bag that is preventing that, or the key fob battery may be low. Also if you have digital key plus setup it may interfere with the key fob, so only one should be active.

I could personally see myself using the digital key because I will be having two cars, so rather than carrying 2 keys on my key chain I could just carry one and use my phone to switch on and off the vehicle, but yes, if it was just one car, I probably wouldn't be using it.
