And the reason why Brazil has the largest population of japanese people is that in 1924 the US banned japanese immigration so their major option after that was Brazil. Brazil needed agricultural workers and Japan was a poor country back then.

It was the only place Asians could live bcz Europeans didn't accept them on their neighborhoods but nowadays almost none japanese lives there it's more a commercial zone and the Japanese have integrated into the society living in other neighborhoods, most Asians there now are Chinese or Korean who started they immigration more recently

Also most "japanese" in Brazil don't speak japanese anymore, my family is an example, my grandparents are the second generation living in brazil and even they don't speak japanese anymore. we don't consider ourselves japanese but Brazilians bcz we were born here, that's maybe why no one give him an interview before, it's hard to find a japanese Brazilian who can actually speak japanese fluently 😅
