The only parts that really matter on an AR15 are the barrel and the bolt. Most places mill out their own receivers, but the AR15 is a pretty universal spec. I have a BCA side charging upper and carrier with a Criterion barrel. I went with the headspaced bolt option originally, and I still have it soaked in oil in a small bottle, but right now I'm running a Sharps Rifle Co bolt in it with a Toolcraft bolt coated in molybdenum disulfide grease, in a plastic baggie stuffed up in the pistol grip. The headspaced bolt that came with the barrel is probably more accurate than either of the others with that particular barrel, but I wasn't enthused with the coating. That's not to say it was bad, because it wasn't... but the DLC coated SRC Reliabolt sheds carbon like nobody's business. 20" HBAR with a 13/16-16 outer threaded break. Odinworks adjustable block. The block isn't really necessary in a rifle length gas system, but it helps get it dialed in. Once I get a little scratch saved up, I'm going to form 1 a flat baffle suppressor with the steel blast shield that came with the muzzle as my mounting solution. It's going to be all stainless, and coated in Tungsten Disulfide. The coating probably won't last long, but it'll definitely help it shed carbon. It's currently sitting on a KP15 lower. It was originally sitting on a PSA lower with an H2 carbine buffer/carbine tube. The trigger is a milspec trigger that I polished myself with 2k grit sandpaper and a cloth/cotton buffing wheel and polishing compound. It's got around a 5 lb trigger pull, and it's as crisp as any aftermarket trigger I've owned. Super proud of my work there. Optics are a PA 4-4-14x44 in HUD DMR, with a tube mounted Holosun 407k x2. Optics and barrel were the bulk of my expenses. The upper was around $200, after tax and shipping. KP15 lower ran me around $180 after uncle Sam got his cut + 4473. The barrel and headspaced bolt were $450-ish, but that may be a high estimate. Scope was around $200 from Optics Planet, and the dot was around $250-300. I have no idea what mounts are on it right now. I *think* it's a SWFA mount, but it's long since been camouflaged, and my memory is trash. The handguard came from UTG. I was iffy about it at first, but I wanted the gun to look as poor as possible (BCA, PSA w/ UTG handguard) but still perform. I shimmed the barrel extension into the upper with stainless steel shimstock wrapped around the extension, and a little bit of moly grease to stick the shimstock to the extension. It's easily a sub MOA gun if I'm doing my part, and it's probably at 1k-1500 rounds currently, if I had to guess, with zero failures that weren't user induced for training or tuning. Build your own rifles, fellas. It's cheaper, and you get a better weapon IMO.

I think you should change your phrasing on these as inexpensive and not Poverty tier uppers. I can afford a $2500 AR but I rather keep the price on all my ARs to below $750. I rather have 4 ARs that cost $600 a piece rather than 1 fancy AR15 that cost 1K or 2.5K. Also save some money for ammo.

But they are Poverty Tier. Different phrasing is for the #woke and #metoo crowd. I'd rather have 1 quality handgun, shotgun and AR (each) than 3 or 4 Poverty Pewsticks in each platform. If you can afford a $2500 AR but refuse to buy it, are you sure it's not because you'd RATHER spend it on cars or vacations or watches or hookers??? You're not spending all of the difference on ammo, let's be honest. There are just other things you'd rather spend big $$$$ on.

I've got a little over 2k rounds through a PSA 18" upper that I bought a few years ago. It's got the older clamp on 15" m-lok handguard with 3 screws on the bottom and anti-rotation tabs, I haven't had any issues with it sliding around. I bought a complete PSA lower at the same time and had the castle nut loosen itself up. That caused the one and only malfunction it's ever had but it's been good since I tightened it back up. PSA uses decent parts and they usually put their rifles together pretty well but I'd recommend checking everything over and maybe putting some threadlocker on it here and there. For the $469 I've got in it, I think it was a great deal. Even if it had cost a couple hundred more, I really wouldn't have anything to complain about but the poorly staked castle nut.

Automatically say that the less expensive are lesser quality shows a prejudice that is not supported by facts. A $250 ar15 upper that is warranted to produce 1inch groups or less at 100 yards and is reliable is actually better than an $900 one that gives 3 inch groups.

As long as the parts are milspec and not defective the difference between high tier and low tier comes down to assembly. If you start with a good barrel and torque it properly onto a forged reciever, deburr and polish contact surfaces you will see very little difference between low end and high end (triggers withstanding). The difference will then come down to the shooter. Spending more money on a gun does not make you a better shot.

There are ONLY two things that matter in any company's upper receiver and those are 1. Does it function reliably, and 2. Does it offer acceptable accuracy? Grading a rifle upper on your personal preference on flash hider or linear compensator is foolish. Grading a rifle upper on a generic vs brand name flashlight, and that flashlight's mount is foolish. Grading a rifle upper on ease to install a large suppressor is foolish because that tab may be bent or cut off easily. Grading a rifle upper on ease to install a large suppressor is foolish because no one living on poverty row can afford the suppressor tax stamp much less the suppressor itself Grading a rifle upper downward because you failed to check all screws for tightness is foolish because that nis common sense on almost every purchase of any kind. Grading a rifle upper downward because you shot it repeatedly with loose screws that stripped is foolish because it because common sense says to tighten them beforehand and BLUE lock-tite is your friend. Grading a rifle upper downward because you failed to check, to tighten, or to use BLUE lock-tite, and simply replace stripped machine screws is foolish. Replacing an expensive handguard because you failed to check, or to tighten, or to use BLUE lock-tite, or RED lock-tite after damaging the threads in your barrel is foolish. Going to order a PSA 10.5 556. If it doesn't shoot, I'll put a Wilson barrel in it but changing trigger ASAP. I'm a trigger snob

BCA is great if you want to try a new caliber, but don't want to invest a lot in case you don't like it. they make a lot of calibers, not expensive, and usually function and accuracy is usually acceptable.

So how is 6065 aluminum on a PSA hand guard less quality than a 6065 aluminum BCM hand guard, other than design there isn't any difference. I have $2000 dollar ARs and I have a $400 dollar PSA AR and they are both made of exactly the same materials. So your right to say the QC is less consistent on a less expensive AR but that's a given at the price level. As a side note you really should stop using the term poverty tear, it makes you seem like you're better than people who can only afford them.
@HotMicSystems Жыл бұрын
Own 2 of each and love them equally, psa has really stepped up in QC over the years, BCA gets a bad wrap from the gun community but ots fine, just needs some love upon a arrival and its good to go

Does the Bear Creek upper have picatinny rails on the bottom or mlok ? Ordered this upper and want an angled foregrip but can't tell on my phone because gun and your shirt are black haha. Can look when I get home but want to order now so wife don't see me ordering MORE gun stuff.

You should take this video down seriously. I have a psa and beat the shit out of it never one issue. More expensive doesn't mean better quality. Sure it might have a little better some things but not 3x as much money better. Every person I know who has psa loves them. I am able to buy what I want and I still choose psa. Calling people poor for buying them is really stupid and not sure who would take you seriously talking like that.
@user-ps7ou9so2h2 жыл бұрын
I think this did not help your channel to use the word poverty ,price point does not dictate quality if you know what you have & what you are doing is what matters ?? make a new video ,an talk about what quality you get for your money an people will be more appt to res pos

"Budget tier " "really crappy" "you are broke" .... black table..black clothes.. black background.. when you get a GF have her proof watch your vids before uploading. This would definitely turn someone away from the 2A community to depression.. lolol... not helpful at all. An entire video just to say, if yu spend a little more yu get better quality. We already know that. The 1st minute and a half is cringe worthy
